Recently, the newly built branch of the Nanchang City Public Security Bureau in Jiangxi Province successfully destroyed a "killing foreign plate" fraud den in a community under its jurisdiction, and the words of the arrested criminal suspect Wang and others made people cry and laugh.
Case review
On May 5, the Xinjian Public Security Sub-Bureau successfully detected a telecommunications fraud case against foreigners, arrested 5 criminal suspects, seized 39 mobile phones, 5 computers, and 9 foreign telephone cards, with a total amount of more than 900,000 yuan.
In April 2023, the police of the Xinjian Public Security Sub-Bureau found after investigation that a foreign phone card signal appeared near Xinjian Avenue in Xinjian District, and the duration was concentrated and stable, suspected of being a fraud den.
After several days of squatting in disguise, the police further discovered that five young men had gathered in the private house on the second floor of the self-built house where the first wholesale department of the new Avenue was located. Through analysis and judgment, the identities of the five men were confirmed, and the gathering time of the five men was relatively regular, generally from 13 pm to 1 am the next day, which was very consistent with the time of the appearance of the foreign calling card signal.
Taking advantage of the absence of the five men, the police observed the inside of the room from the periphery and found that there were multiple computers, mobile phones and other items in the room, which preliminarily determined that the place was a fraud den.
On May 6, under the unified command of the Nanchang Municipal Public Security Bureau, the new public security sub-bureau decisively closed the net, arrested the fraud gang in one fell swoop, and seized several tools on the spot.
After investigation, the gang has targeted the people of the Middle East Kingdom of Bahrain since June 2022, disguised as women with better families and beautiful appearance, and pre-packaged their social accounts, using circumvention software and WhatsApp chat software, using copied words to communicate with each other, and inducing the other party to invest in a fake gold platform after sending life photos, shushing and asking for warmth, and the gold platform can artificially manipulate the rise and fall, withdraw cash, and defraud the people of the Kingdom of Bahrain in this way. The total funds involved in the case were more than 900,000 yuan.
According to the police handling the case, in fact, the criminal suspect could not even speak a word of foreign language, and could only communicate with overseas victims with the help of translators and translation software.
At present, five members of the fraud gang have been criminally detained by the public security organs in accordance with the law, and the case is being further investigated.
Police tips
The so-called "killing foreign market" is a kind of telecommunications network fraud. It refers to fraudsters pretending to be "Bai Fumei" and "Gao Fushuai" and other high-end identities, using translation software and chat software to fall in love and make friends with foreigners as a means to gain the trust of victims, and then guide victims to "invest", brush orders, gamble, etc., and finally defraud money.
Do not rush to participate in fraud or help carry out fraud, and do not believe the fallacy that "deceiving foreigners does not break the law". Whether it is a fraudulent Chinese or a foreigner, anyone who violates the law will be severely punished by the law. In their daily work and life, if the general public discovers that others are engaged in illegal or criminal acts such as "killing foreign plates", they may promptly report to the public security organs.
