Hu Wenli, a reporter of China Youth Daily and China Youth Network
This year marks the 50th anniversary of China's restoration of its legitimate seat in the United Nations. In order to advocate Asia-Pacific youth to jointly contribute to global development and address common challenges, the 2021 Asia-Pacific Youth Leadership and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum was held on September 28, hosted by the All-China Youth Federation and the United Nations Development Programme, and hosted by China Youth Daily, Guangzhou Youth Federation and KAB National Promotion Office. More than 140 Chinese and foreign youths from 12 countries in the Asia-Pacific region gathered online and offline to talk about innovation and entrepreneurship.
At the forum, five Chinese youth representatives told their stories of innovation and entrepreneurship. Among them, some have traveled to foreign countries to conduct clinical trials of covid-19 vaccines, some have developed robots to clean waters, some have helped farmers get rid of poverty, some have promoted carbon emissions trading, and some have helped the children of migrant workers for decades... With firm faith, profound professional knowledge and a strong sense of social responsibility, they write a hot and shining life. They are ordinary people like you and me, and they are also the heroes of this era.

"Chinese vaccine, cattle!"
Qian Wang - Clinical Supervisor, China Biomedical Center
Talk about experiences
In 2020, the new crown virus hit the world. I traveled to the United Arab Emirates with sinopharm's "Great Wall" special operations team to conduct phase III clinical trials of the new crown vaccine. When we first arrived in the UAE, we faced many difficulties: the impact of different cultures, the discomfort caused by high temperatures, dietary differences, language barriers... However, the effort paid off in the end. On the last day of 2020, our vaccine was conditionally approved for marketing in China. After obtaining the World Health Organization's emergency use certification, Sinopharm's vaccine production capacity has now exceeded 5 billion doses, contributing to the global fight against the epidemic.
After learning that we were the Chinese team that came to do the vaccine clinical trial, the locals thanked and recognized us. Someone said to us with an unskilled Chinese: "Chinese vaccine, cattle!" ”
Talk about your thoughts
There are heroes in every era. In this fight against the epidemic, frontline medical workers, vaccine research and development personnel, and every ordinary person who has fought against the epidemic are the heroes of this era.
Let's walk into the low-carbon life of the future
Chang Zheng - Head of Strategy and R&D Center of Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange
On July 16, 2021, I entered the public eye with the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange, where I work. On this day, the national carbon emissions trading market was launched in Shanghai.
For most ordinary Chinese, "emissions trading" is a new word. To put it more broadly, it is an important mechanism for using the market economy to promote environmental protection, and market players can trade with reduced carbon emissions without breaking through the total amount of emissions stipulated in carbon emission trading. To a lesser extent, there is a possibility of individuals as the main body of trading in the future, order a takeaway that does not require disposable tableware, ride a one-kilometer shared bicycle, buy a T-shirt of environmentally friendly materials, and drive a ten-kilometer pure electric car... If these data are included in the public trust platform with accurate accounting, everyone's humble energy-saving behavior can be converted into carbon emission credits.
We hope that through our efforts, everyone will realize the significance of emission reduction. It is hoped that young people in the Asia-Pacific region will start from the small things around them and make great contributions to the world's emission reduction through small actions within their capabilities.
Take the dream as a boat to help environmental protection, sail to the future to see the green mountains
Jiannan Zhu - CEO of China Oka Zhigang Company
I studied underwater acoustic engineering at the School of Navigation at Northwestern Polytechnical University and later went on to visit Technion. During this period, I saw the results of the transformation of industry, education and research in many colleges and universities. This inspired me to return to China to start a business.
In 2017, I saw an elderly cleaner in Xitang, Hangzhou, standing on a dangling boat to clean up garbage on the water, and he had to work for a long time every day in hot weather. I later learned that both at home and abroad are facing an increasingly serious problem of water pollution. This inspired me, and I began working with my partners to develop clean robots using driverless technology.
Like other entrepreneurs, we are short of people, money, and resources. We are constantly participating in various competitions to support the team to continue to go through the process by receiving honors and awards. Through three years of hard work, we have developed two types of robots, one for rivers and lakes, and the other for the vast sea. With our robots, cleaners have a good helper in their daily work.
Technology is not a rhetorical device, it can play a real role in reality, in society, in life. We hope that through science and technology, we will turn the world into a more beautiful, greener and smarter world.
Build the countryside beautiful and rich
Wang Ziyao - Project Manager of the Social Liaison Department of the All-China Youth Federation, is a poverty alleviation cadre stationed in the village
I was born in the countryside and wanted to do something practical for the farmers. Two years ago, when I went to Yuhuangmiao Village in Heze City, Shandong Province, to carry out poverty alleviation work, the villagers saw us and cried excitedly. Villagers say the local produce is of good quality, but they suffer from the lack of a market.
We have established a platform for poverty alleviation and agricultural assistance, labeling 40 kinds of agricultural products and packaging them uniformly, and directly selling them to the market after promotion through technical means such as e-commerce live broadcasting. The direct sales of the poverty alleviation platform exceeded 10 million yuan, and indirectly drove the sales of local agricultural products to nearly 20 million yuan. In addition, we have built a variety of tourism products based on the profound traditional culture and revolutionary stories of the Yellow River Basin, bringing income to locals.
The "upgrading" process of Yuhuangmiao Village is also a microcosm of the common efforts of more than 3 million poverty alleviation cadres and hundreds of millions of farmers throughout China. I believe that this spirit of struggle will continue to be passed on, calling on more young people to go to the grassroots and the countryside, and build the countryside into beautiful and rich.
"Helping others to help themselves" with love and professionalism
Liang Huandi - Director General of Qingteng Social Work Service Center in Guangzhou, China
Social work is now becoming an industry, and helping requires not only enthusiasm, but also professional ability. In 2014, I founded the Guangzhou Huangpu District Youth Social Organization Federation, which was the first youth social organization federation in Guangzhou, and since then I have embarked on the road of public welfare entrepreneurship.
Guangzhou has a large number of immigrants, and many children live in "urban villages" and it is difficult to complete normal schooling. We provide these children with extracurricular education and activities to help them integrate into urban life. After completing their studies, these beneficiaries became volunteers at the service center to provide volunteer services to more people.
Seeing the healthy and happy growth of the teenagers we have helped, we firmly believe that this "helping others to help themselves" career is worth it. On the road of continuous development of the social service industry, we will not forget the original intention, people-oriented, with love and professionalism to help every teenager.
