Sanqin Metropolis Daily - Sanqin News (Reporter Glen) Recently, when some citizens were playing along the Wei River in Gaoling District, Xi'an City, they found that there were a large number of mosquito-like insects flying along the coast, and when these mosquitoes appeared in a concentrated manner, they were like small tornadoes, densely packed in groups. Some walking citizens are often "harassed" and it is not clear what is going on.

On April 21, a reporter from Sanqin Metropolis Daily saw from videos and pictures provided by several citizens that on April 19, in the air near the Gaoling Weihe River Bridge, a large area of mosquitoes appeared, and these mosquitoes were very numerous, gathering into black ribbons and flying in the sky. In the afternoon of the same day, the reporter came to the vicinity of the Weihe River Bridge in Gaoling and searched for them many times but failed to find these mosquitoes that people photographed. Nearby villagers told reporters that a large number of mosquitoes in the video and pictures do exist, and it may be that the rainy weather in these two days has reduced these mosquitoes.

"It's been around for ten days. From the appearance, it is a bit like small mosquitoes, which appear in groups along the Wei River. When someone passes by, the bugs even boldly fly around people, even staying on people's faces and eyes, but they do not bite people. They have not yet been found to have an impact on crops. Villager Master Yang told reporters that especially on a sunny day, there are many flying insects. He said it's more noticeable at night, especially in places with lights or higher temperatures.

"I started to see bugs coming up, and I would reach out and slap them, but then I found that these bugs would not attack." Villager Master Zhang speculated that it may be due to the high temperature and drought in the early stage that caused such mosquitoes to multiply in large quantities. But what impact it will have, everyone said it was not clear.

Today, the reporter learned from the Gaoling District Agriculture and Forestry Bureau that they initially suspect that this mosquito is a rocking mosquito, which will not bite people and animals, nor will it spread diseases. The staff said that they are also specifically determining what kind of creatures these insects flying along the Weihe River are, and after determining, they will formulate relevant plans to kill mosquitoes and improve the environment along the Weihe River.
