Scientists recently discovered a rare nocturnal moth in the Chernobyl Radiation Biosphere Reserve, which can be compared to the size of a bird.

The butterfly is scientifically called the nocturnal moth, which experts say is one of the largest nocturnal moth species living in Ukraine and Europe, with a wingspan of even up to 110 millimeters.

Its head and thorax are grayish white with black and brown, a black stripe in the middle of the neck plate, black at the end, and black on the back of the abdomen, which are distributed in Asia and Europe, and are mainly present in Heilongjiang Province.

This nocturnal moth is active at night, likes to fly to the light, and prefers to inhabit trees such as willow, poplar, elm, machine, and ash.
