One of China's iconic symbols, the Great Wall is the longest city wall in the world and a stunning feat of ancient defensive architecture. Its winding paths through rugged countryside and steep mountains are scenic. It is listed in the "New Seven Wonders of the World" and on China's UNESCO World Heritage List.

The wall stretches from China's western border to the east coast and is about 5,000 kilometers (3,100 miles) long, but the most intact and best-preserved part is close to Beijing. So that's what people usually mean when they refer to the Great Wall of China.

There is no better way to explore the Great Wall of China than on foot or on foot with the Great Wall. Walk through the ruins of the watchtower. Take your time and feel history come back to life.
