Cheng Hong said that Huangshan attaches great importance to the protection of heritage resources, and huangshan scenic spot has become one of the first batch of national scenic spots and 5A scenic spots, and the world's first scenic spot integrating world cultural and natural heritage, world geopark and world biosphere reserve.

Talking about the experience of huangshan world heritage protection and management, Cheng Hong stressed the importance of establishing a complete and rigorous modern governance system. Over the past few decades, Huangshan has issued a number of local regulations, constantly refining and implementing protection tasks and requirements. It is the first in the country to introduce more than 100 ecological management regulations such as camping tents and low and slow small aircraft, and first set the maximum daily carrying capacity of scenic spots, which has been praised by UNESCO as a "model of heritage protection".

The protection of Huangshan Mountain is inseparable from the participation of the whole people. Cheng Hong introduced that Huangshan implemented "subtraction on the mountain, addition on the mountain" and "upstream of the mountain, under the mountain to live", implemented the relocation project of office and living facilities, created green hotels, banned the sale of goods that are easy to affect the environment, issued the "Civilized Tourism Convention", formulated the red and black list of tourism behaviors, carried out ecological and environmental protection civilized tourism public welfare activities such as "blue ribbon", and realized the "three 100%" of bagging collection rate, timely clearance and disposal rate, and harmless disposal rate.
Huangshan pays attention to the development of a virtuous circle. For example, since September 2013, a 2-4-year closed rotation break has been implemented for hot spots such as Tiandu Peak and Lotus Peak to promote ecosystem recuperation and sustainable utilization of landscape resources, and the relevant cases have been listed as typical cases of "China's Implementation of the Fifth National Report of the Convention on the Conservation of Biological Diversity" and released by the United Nations Environment Programme to the world. The World Heritage Monitoring Information System, alpine fire prevention pipe network, and forest fire automatic monitoring and alarm system were built, and there were no forest fires for 40 consecutive years.

In November 2000, Huangshan Xidi and Hongcun were included in the World Cultural Heritage List, which set a precedent for the global rural settlements to be included in the World Cultural Heritage List. Cheng Hong said that Huangshan City, focusing on the inheritance and protection of the heritage of Xidi and Hongcun, actively explores new models for the revitalization and utilization of ancient residential buildings, continuously optimizes the supply of cultural and tourism products, protects a number of old houses and old villages, and develops more than 300 boutique homestays such as Tachuan Academy, Shiting Painting Station, and Imperial Guards to enjoy a reputation at home and abroad, and launch the "Huizhou Homestay" brand.

Cheng Hong said that in recent years, Huangshan City has always adhered to the protection and development of Huangshan Scenic Area and ancient villages in southern Anhui, and strived to build an ecological and international tourist destination. In 2019, the tourism reception volume exceeded 74 million person-times, the total income was 65.9 billion yuan, and the overnight registered tourists exceeded 10 million, and tourism became the largest pillar industry, characteristic industry and enrichment industry.
