Chengdu Aerospace Middle School won the International Award
The 6th International Mathematical Modeling Challenge (IMMC 2020) Greater China Defence Finals, hosted by the Faculty of Science, City University of Hong Kong, were held online on 8-9 May 2020. The mathematical modeling team of Chengdu Aerospace Middle School, composed of three students, Yang Zhihao, Liu Peng and Deng Anqi, won the special finalist award and the first prize of the China Division in the final defense.

As one of the TOP 50 IMMC Chinese teams that entered the defense finals this year, under the guidance of Liang Yan, Zhang Yu and Li Xuping, the Aviation Mathematical Modeling Team, together with all the participating teams, went through the selection of imMC2020 autumn and winter competitions, stood out from more than 650 teams participating in the competition, and successfully entered the IMMC international competition.
After 5 days and 5 nights of continuous struggle, it successfully entered the final of the international defense competition (only 25 teams in the international competition entered the international defense final), passed multiple and strict thesis review, and finally achieved excellent competition results.

Mathematical modeling is an interesting challenge that tests the team level. Teams need to withstand the pressure to complete tasks such as problem analysis, model selection, data calculation and article writing within a few days. Mathematical modeling can transform the complex problems of life into several simple mathematical formulas, which is a manifestation of practical ability.

On April 11, 2020, we suddenly received a notification that the paper was in the final. It's unimaginable, knowing that this is my first time in this competition. Nervous and excited, after all, the defense part of the final is to face the questions raised by experts.
Mathematical modeling is actually to build a mathematical model based on the actual problem, solve the mathematical model, and then solve the actual problem according to the result. It's like solving a math problem, but it's far more fun than simply solving a math problem. We have an infinite number of models to solve problems, and there is no reference to the answer. We can think divergently and come up with many answers. In fact, the most attractive thing about mathematical modeling is that it can solve various problems in reality, as long as the data is given and the desired solution is proposed, then there must be a corresponding model to solve it. This kind of creativity fascinates me deeply.

The days of this competition were very tough. I still vividly remember the scene when the epidemic was raging, when several of us were doing papers in our respective homes late at night. To tell the truth, in the face of students from many famous schools in China, we are not sure whether we can enter the final. Our paper still has a lot to improve, the time relationship, and it has not been translated into English. However, when we received the email from the IMMC Committee, we were happy to blossom.
With the help of the teachers, we prepared the equipment for the competition, made a detailed plan, and applied for time to familiarize ourselves with the operation and practice the defense, although it was only two days, we were still fully prepared. Fight the most attentive battle with the fullest preparation.
With the fullest effort and the fullest preparation
Won international awards
