Back in 2014, Lionsgate's Apex Entertainment announced that it would remake the sci-fi classic Highlander. Now that the film has made new progression, Deadline reports that "Superman" Henry Cavill will star in the film!
As for what role he plays, it is not yet known.
Released in 1986 and starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, Highlander didn't make a splash when it was first released in theaters, but became a sci-fi action movie classic over time. From the Scottish Highlanders in 1536 to the metropolis of New York in 1986, The Highlanders is a group of immortal swordsmen who travel through time and space and fight until their heads are cut off with an ancient sword of their kind.
The Highlander went on to make four sequels and a TV series. The sequel is more famous for "Highlander II: The Quickening", the story takes place in 2024, due to the disappearance of the earth's ozone layer, people can only live under the artificial "canopy", the male protagonist after a series of adventures found that the ozone layer has long been restored, and the company that placed the "sky curtain" for its own benefit has intended to hide this fact. There is also a "Highlander: Endgame" film released in 2000, and Zhen Zidan also starred in the film.
Peak Entertainment acquired the rights to the adaptation in May 2008 from Peter Davis, the original producer of The Highlander, and the film is currently directed by Chad Stahelski of John Wick.
