According to the latest reports, "Avatar 2" screenwriter Josh Friedman was hired as the screenwriter of "Fantastic Four" to rewrite the screenplay of the film, while the previous screenwriting duo Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer announced their withdrawal.
Friedman has participated in "Avatar: The Way of Water" and TNT's "Snowpiercer" series, according to reports, the previous two screenwriters are good at comedy, so the script style may not meet Marvel's expectations, so Friedman was re-hired in the hope that the film style would be more serious.
Marvel has previously indicated that "Fantastic Four" is an important work in the sixth phase of Marvel after the two "Avengers", in addition to introducing the world's first family, it may also introduce the X-Men.
And as we all know, the script of "Fantastic Four" is quite difficult to write, because it is an origin movie, plus it has to fit the tone of the entire MCU, so the movie needs to say a lot of things, which can easily lead to the situation of losing one over the other.
However, Marvel also said that just like the Dutch brother's "Spider-Man" series, they do not plan to retell the origin of the Fantastic Four, when they appear in the MCU, they have already obtained superpowers, and the Richards couple already have a child.
"Fantastic Four" will be released on February 14, 2025.
