Just after the autumn, the Autumn and Winter Performance Season of the Shanghai Opera House has been renewed, not only with opera giants such as Hehui and Shi Yijie joining, but also with actors Tong Liya and supermodel Lu Yan to cross-border cooperation.
From September 3rd to 5th, the concert version of the opera "Country Knight" and "Clown" will be performed at the Shanghai Grand Theatre under the baton of Xu Zhong, director of the Shanghai Opera House, to kick off the autumn and winter performance season.
The opera double male will continue to be directed by the cloud
Mascagni's Country Knight is a one-act opera with a tight plot that pioneered short operas, and LeonCavallo's The Harlequin is the most successful of many imitators, often performing on the same stage and staging a double male meeting.
In September, soprano hehui will play the heroines of both operas, Santuza and Neda, which is also the second time she cooperated with the Shanghai Opera House after the operas "Aida" and "Turandot". Young tenor singers Xue Haoyan and Han Peng will partner with Hehui and play the male protagonists of the two dramas.
Born in 1813, Verdi and Wagner are two opera giants in the history of Western music, pushing Italian opera and German opera to glory. The "Verdi & Wagner Opera Collection Concert" is also a double-male concert, which will take place at the Shanghai Grand Theatre in November.
At that time, tenor singer Shi Yijie and young soprano Zhou Xiaolin will share the stage to present classic excerpts from the two opera masters. The concert will break with the traditional repertoire and be choreographed according to the plot of the singing segment in the opera, resulting in a situational performance.
Last year, the Shanghai Opera House rehearsed the opera "Don Juan" through the "Cloud Direction", and this year, the "Cloud Guide" continues. Australian Opera Director Martin Constantine, Florence May Festival Choir Chorus Chorus Lorenzo Flattini, as well as Alessandro Amoretti, Cyro Batalin, Nicole Dorigo and other senior vocal directors and language directors will be invited to maintain a connection with the theater and provide real-time instruction from the aspects of language, music assignments and drama rehearsals.
In addition to Western classic operas, Chinese original operas also play an important role. The original "Tian Han" and "Morning Bell" of the Shanghai Opera House will be conducted by conductor Zhang Chengjie and declared to participate in the Chinese Opera Festival that kicked off in the autumn. "Morning Bell" will also be toured across the country.
In October, the Shanghai Opera House will also participate in the first International Chamber Opera Competition of the "Art Innovation Award". Zhang Qingxin, Vice President of Shanghai Opera House, and Conductor Zhang Chengjie will lead the theater's young singers and chamber orchestra to rehearse four new opera works that have been shortlisted for the finals.
Not only opera, but also concerts
The autumn and winter seasons include not only opera, but also concerts.
In November, Xu Zhong will join hands with the Shanghai Opera Symphony Orchestra and the young mezzo-soprano Wen Muya in Russia to bring a "Symphony concert of lights of France" full of French flavor. The concert will feature works by Fore, Russell, Ravel and Saint-Saëns, of which Russell's Symphony No. 4 in A major and Ravel's Three Poems of Stefan Malami are rarely performed in China.
In December, China's three tenors Wei Song, Dai Yuqiang and Mo Hualun will once again share the stage to present a concert of Chinese and Western fusion. Also in December, Hehui will collaborate with the Shanghai Opera House to bring a solo concert, selecting a series of re-sung excerpts from classic operas to feast the ears of opera fans.
"Yellow River Chorus" is a symphonic chorus reserve of the Shanghai Opera House. From December this year to January next year, the Shanghai Opera House will take "Yellow River Chorus" and "Carmina Brana" to the south to tour, performing more than ten times in Foshan, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Fujian, Fu'an and other places, and two consecutive performances on the evening of December 31, spending Chinese New Year's Eve with Guangzhou music fans.
Cross-border industry leader, to create a circle of works
In the autumn and winter performance season, the Shanghai Opera House will also cooperate with various industry leaders to create a circle of works.
In the meantime, actress Tong Liya will resume her dance steps and bring her planned and starring dance theater "Here in the Distance", performing a work of attachment to the beauty of Xinjiang.
In addition, in September, The costume brand Common Moi of supermodel Lu Yan will also join the rehearsal of the concert version of the opera "Country Knight". According to the personality characteristics and fate of several female characters in the play, Lu Yan will select the appropriate styles from the brand clothing as costumes to inject fashion elements into the performance.
