The Album of Chinese Art Songs contains a total of 20 songs, which are roughly in chronological order, based on the composer as a unit, into one album. In addition to many enduring classics, the album also unearths a number of unknown and sung works, such as Lin Shengxi's "Autumn Night" and "Wangyun", Huang Yongxi's "Where are the Si people", Liu Xue'an's "Pursuit" and Chen Tianhe's "Where Spring Returns".

One of the highlights of this album is also the first collaboration between Shi Yijie and pianist Chen Sa. They met unexpectedly on several occasions, but they never had the opportunity to work together. Having a soloist accompany his singing seemed like a somewhat abrupt invitation, and Shi Yijie asked Chen Sa with a nervous mood, and because of the matchmaking of mutual friends, he promoted this cooperation.
