Robert Taylor (August 5, 1911 – June 8, 1969) was an American Hollywood film icon superstar and television actor, a famous male star of his time. MGM Chief Beauty Man.
Taylor signed with MGM in 1934 to begin his career. After that, he played the male lead in many films, and in 1940, he filmed the film "Soul Break Blue Bridge". During World War II, he served as a flight instructor in the U.S. Naval Air Force and appeared in instructional films. From 1959 to 1962, he starred in the ABC series The Detectives Starring Robert Taylor. In 1966, he took over from his friend Ronald Reagan to chair Death Valley Days.
Taylor married actress Barbara Stanwick in 1939 and divorced in 1951. He later married actress Ursula Thiess in 1954 and had two children with her. Taylor loved to smoke and was diagnosed with lung cancer in October 1968. He died of the disease in June 1969 when he was 57 years old.
Before that, Taylor underwent surgery to remove part of his right lung. During the operation, doctors discovered that he had lung cancer. Taylor smoked three packs of cigarettes a day and quit shortly before undergoing surgery. In the last months of his life, he was hospitalized seven times due to complications of infection and related diseases.
