In recent years, fraud incidents in northern Myanmar have been frequent, which have had a great impact at home and abroad. While some victims have succeeded in recovering their property, many have irretrievably lost all or even most of their savings, and some have even lost their lives as a result of being deceived. Behind this scam is the shameless behavior of some lawbreakers, and it is the evil of the Myanmar government after it has been left alone.
Known as Myanmar's "Three Regards", the northern region of Myanmar lacks effective security institutions and laws and regulations, making it a haven for criminals. They run amok in the region, committing crimes through fraud, kidnapping, robbery, homicide, etc., which is a great threat to local residents, tourists and businessmen.
According to incomplete statistics, in northern Myanmar alone, hundreds of fraud cases occur every year, with losses of more than 10 million. Moreover, these scammer gangs are not only large in institutions and extensive networks, but also good at changing disguises, and the means used are becoming more and more sophisticated, which can be described as unpreventable.
Faced with this situation, the Myanmar government has not taken effective measures to punish it, but has gradually lost control of the situation in the region. Political and security issues in northern Myanmar have been a concern both inside and outside Myanmar, but Myanmar government officials often take these issues with perfunctory and inattentive attitudes. They seem helpless with this seemingly unsolvable problem.
For a government, allowing these crooks to act arbitrarily is not only irresponsible to its own people, but also a serious loss to the country. If the Myanmar government does not strengthen governance in northern Myanmar and adopt a more forceful way of operation, it will face condemnation and unimaginable consequences from both the domestic and international community.
