According to Yonhap News Agency, the 5th Criminal Appeal Division of the Daegu District Court in South Korea conducted a second-instance trial on the 8th on the drug abuse case of singer Hui Xing. As in the first instance, the prosecution requested the court to sentence Huixing to 3 years in prison.
Hui Xing said in court that he admitted his mistake and reflected on it, insisted on treating insomnia, panic and depression for more than 1 year and 7 months, and would strive to return to normal life in the future, and asked the court for leniency.
Huixing was suspected of purchasing 3,910 milliliters of propofol totaling 60.5 million won (about 335,000 yuan) in 12 separate times from September to the end of November 2019, and injected propofol more than 10 times in hotels and other places, and was not arrested and directly sued by prosecutors in August last year. The court held a first-instance judgment in March this year, sentencing him to 1 year in prison, 2 years' probation, 40 hours of social volunteer activities, and 40 hours of drug treatment. However, the prosecution appealed on the grounds that the punishment at first instance was not strict. The court will hold a second-instance ruling on the 13th of next month.
