Liu Nian: Only by accepting challenges can we grow faster

Oral medicines were distributed to grandmothers in isolation wards

Liu Nian, female, Han ethnicity, Hunan Miluo people, born in August 1997, graduated from the Department of Nursing of Yueyang Vocational and Technical College in 2017, graduated from the University of South China Community Nursing in the same year, joined the work in 2018, and is now working in the intensive care unit of the East Hospital. As the first team member of the hospital to volunteer to support the Changsha Public Health Center, the smallest "baby" on the front line of the Changsha "epidemic" battle, from January 30 to February 21, 2020, entered the intensive care ward of the Changsha Public Health Treatment Center, participated in the treatment of new crown pneumonia, and submitted an application to join the party in the frontline of the fight against the epidemic.

The Spring Festival of 2020 is a period of time that everyone cannot forget, and in the face of disaster, we have also seen different greatness, and countless Communist Party members rushed to the front line and used their ordinary bodies to build a fortress of protection for the hundreds of millions of Chinese behind them. During the epidemic, Wuhan has become the main battlefield of the new crown epidemic, and there are constantly Communist Party members rushing to Wuhan, regardless of remuneration, regardless of life or death; they take the initiative to ask for help and go to the most tired and dangerous places; these outstanding Communist Party members have touched my heart even more and made me want to strive to move closer to the Party organization.

At the age of 29, I received a notice that the front line needed the support of our medical staff, and I thought of Academician Zhong Nanshan, an 84-year-old Communist Party member, who took the initiative to embark on the high-speed train to Wuhan when the new crown pneumonia came on January 18, but repeatedly explained to others, "No special circumstances, don't go to Wuhan"... Thinking of this, I immediately signed up for support. On the sixth day of the Chinese New Year, under the escort of the hospital leaders, the head of the department and the head nurse, I rushed to the Changsha Public Health Center with three other teachers from the hospital.

The first isolation room I was assigned to enter was the intensive care unit, and I was both scared and nervous, as the youngest of all the medical teams, because of my lack of experience, I almost collapsed within an hour of entering the ward, the mask was tightly pressed against the nose and mouth, and the goggles made my ears hurt. Due to the fogging of the goggles, the dense droplets of water allowed me to see the scale on the thermometer vaguely even if I tried my best, pushing the treatment cart with caution at every step. When helping newly admitted patients prepare daily necessities, I felt suffocated and uncomfortable, tears fell down without controversy, I wanted to quit, I wanted to give up, but I was worried that if I went out, I would increase the burden on my teammates, thinking that although my business ability and experience were not as good as my predecessors, I had to learn to suffer, and only by accepting these challenges could I grow faster. So, I gritted my teeth, cheered myself up, and insisted on completing the first shift.

There is a 74-year-old grandmother in the intensive care unit, who has been depressed, and learned through inquiries between nursing that my grandmother's family was almost all infected in Wuhan, and I was shocked to hear this news, and I also felt sorry for my grandmother, because I did not have a mobile phone to contact my family at an old age, and I was thinking wildly every day. The environment is special, our mobile phones can not be brought in, I comforted my grandmother while thinking of a way, and finally borrowed a work mobile phone to dial the phone of my grandmother's son. After learning that everyone was very good in Wuhan and had been actively treated, Grandma was also at ease, and also offered to cooperate with the treatment and strive to be discharged as soon as possible. I was happy because a small, insignificant thing had given Grandma renewed her confidence.

"During this period, many applications for joining the party were written carefully by everyone in their spare time on hard duty, which represented everyone's true feeling of actively moving closer to the party organization and their original mission of wanting to fight for the people wholeheartedly, which was really touching." Zhang Jing, secretary of the provisional party branch, said. During these days, I also saw many party members charging forward and being inspired. "Where there are good years, but someone carries the weight for you to move forward", in the fight against the epidemic, party members have improved their political positions and put the safety of the people's lives first. They are the bravest "retrogrades" who fight the epidemic day and night, and they are also the defenders of the safety of people's lives.
