Recently, Kiefer Sutherland announced that he has joined the Showtime anthology series "First Lady", playing former US President Franklin Roosevelt. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of the United States and the first president in American history to serve four consecutive terms (died in his fourth term), and he and his wife Eleanor Roosevelt were the model of modern liberalism in the United States.

Kiefer Sutherland's entry has made the First Lady cast even stronger. According to the lineup previously announced in the series, Viola Davis will play Michelle Obama, Michelle Pfeiffer will play Betty Ford, Gillian Anderson will play Eleanor Roosevelt, Alan Eckhart will play Gerald Ford, Dakota Fanning will play Susan, the only daughter of President Ford, Judy Greer will play Betty's trusted confidant and social secretary Nancy Hall, Jamie Lawson will play the young Michelle, and Christine Floss will play the young Betty.

Directed by Suzanne Bill and written by Alan Cooley, the series aims to focus on america's first ladies over the years and reshape American leadership through the lens of these core women in the White House.
