On March 20, the International Day of Happiness, the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network released its World Happieness Report 2023. Uzbekistan ranked 54th out of 109 countries and territories on the list, falling for the third consecutive year.

In this ranking, Uzbekistan is located between Malaysia and Honduras.

It should be pointed out that in 2021, Uzbekistan ranked 42nd in the list, and in 2020 it was 39th.

Where does Uzbekistan stand in the ranking of the happiest countries in the world?

According to the data, the following factors were taken into account when compiling the happiness index: GDP per capita, level of social support, life expectancy, freedom of choice and decision-making, job security, level of corruption, and the results of opinion polls.

The other countries in Central Asia are ranked as follows: Kazakhstan - 44th, Kyrgyzstan - 62nd, Tajikistan - 80th. It is worth noting that Turkmenistan is not included in the ranking.

Finland in Northern Europe has been the happiest country in the world for 6 consecutive years, followed by Denmark and Iceland.

Affected by internal and external conflicts, poverty or corruption, Afghanistan ranks last in the ranking, followed by Lebanon, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and Congo.

Chinese mainland ranked 64th, Hong Kong ranked 82nd, and Taiwan ranked 27th.

The researchers pointed out that the latest ranking data sampling is from 2020 to 2022, and although most of these three years are during the pandemic, the overall data is not much different from 2017 to 2019.

In addition, the French polling agency Ipsos Group recently released the "2023 Global Happiness" survey report.

In the list, China ranked first with 91% of respondents who considered "very happy" or "quite happy", followed by Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, India and Brazil. The United States and Japan ranked 14th and 29th with 76% and 60%, respectively.
