Chang Guitian's origin is not good, he was born in a cross-talk family, his grandfather was Chang Lian'an, the founder of the Qiming Tea Society, and his father was a very famous cross-talk actor in the 1930s and 40s. At the age of four, Chang Baokun, who followed his father's jianghu art sales, strongly opposed his eldest son Chang Guitian to say cross-talk, hoping that his son could study well and go to college and take a different path from him. Unfortunately, Chang Baokun died young, and her mother Sang Xiuru saw that Chang Guitian was eager to learn art, so she agreed to her son's study of crosstalk.
In fact, when Chang Baokun was still alive, Chang Guitian showed a love for art. When Chang Guitian was 3 years old, he was carried to the stage and stood on a stool and sang a children's song: "A stick I carry..." When Chang Guitian was 6 years old, Chang Baokun also took the cross-talk apart and gave the ones that were suitable for children to say specially to his son. Chang Guitian once told his father about three months of cross-talk, and many famous characters also gave him guidance.
In 1951, Chang died while comforting North Korea. This year, Chang Guitian was only 9 years old, and he was very sad. The loss of a young father is a great pain in life, no matter who it is.
In 1954, 12-year-old Chang Guitian worshiped Zhao Peiru as a teacher. Zhao Peiru is the old partner of his father Xiao Mushroom, and the two cooperate tacitly, and they are one of the five cross-talks in Tianjin. They began to work together in 1937 until Chang Baokun's death, and the two worked together for 14 years.
In 1958, the 16-year-old Chang Guitian graduated from high school, and through the introduction of his fourth uncle Chang Baohua, he was admitted to the Cultural and Labor Corps of the Naval Political Department. Since joining the army, he has not fallen behind in major domestic affairs, and every time he has been on the front line to offer condolences and cross-talk. Chang Guitian has a joking slip of the tongue: Wherever there are battles and disasters, there is the People's Liberation Army; where there is the People's Liberation Army, there is a condolence group; where there is a condolence group, there is Chang Guitian. He is the first "general" in the cross-talk industry, and he also carries the banner of the third generation of the Chang family. For example, in 1962, during the Sino-Indian border self-defense counterattack, Chang Guitian comforted the soldiers who entered Tibet to participate in the war at the Snowy Plateau Military Station, and in the most day, they performed 14 battles; in 1965, to resist the United States and aid Vietnam, he fought for a whole year and experienced a dangerous situation similar to that of his father.
Chang Guitian also gained love in the army literary troupe, where he also met his wife, Wen Keli, who was learning to dance. In 1968, the two married.

In 1984, Chang Guitian won the first prize in the national cross-talk competition.
In 1992, with the approval of the State Council, Chang Guitian enjoyed special government allowances.
Chang Guitian was Hou Yaowen's brother-in-law, so in 2004, when Hou Yaowen accepted Guo Degang, Chang Guitian attended and served as an introducer. At that time, the baoshi was Shi Fukuan, and the substitute teacher was Shi Shengjie.
On November 30, 2018, Chang Guitian died of illness at the age of 76. This year, the Chang family went to Chang Baohua and Chang Guitian successively, which made people very sad.

Chang Guitian not only has a deep foundation in traditional cross-talk, but also can write and create new cross-talk works by himself. As a comic actor, Chang Guitian can be said to have completely inherited and carried forward the characteristics of the Changpai cross-talk school, his cross-talk originality is strong, his performance is smooth and lively, the typhoon is dashing and atmospheric, the language is vivid and natural, and he is especially good at communicating with the audience.

Apprentices include Li Zhiyou, Zhu Haitang, Daniel Zhang, Zhang Lingqi (Zhang Shuo) and so on.
Chang Guitian's partner was first his fourth uncle Chang Baohua, and after Chang Baohua withdrew from the stage, he partnered Wang Peiyuan. Wang Peiyuan is 7 years younger than Chang Guitian, studied under the three mushrooms Chang Baoting, and is also an important figure in the three generations of Chang's cross-talk.
Chang Guitian had a son, Chen Hanbai, who was also an apprentice of his disciple Hou Yaowen.
Chang Guitian had a younger brother, Chang Guixiang, who was born in November 1943 and died on July 4, 2013. Chang Guixiang is a member of the Chinese Dramatists Association and a national first-class actor of the Peking Opera House of China.
In 1954, Chang Guixiang was admitted to the Chinese Opera School, and after graduating in 1962, he went to work at the Peking Opera House in China. Shi Chengxiao Changhua and Wang Lianping were famous teachers. Won the gold medal of the 3rd Peking Opera Festival "The History of the Skinny Horse", and the gold medal of the 4th Peking Opera Festival "Lushui Yishan".
