Although the screen is only 17 minutes, for Chao Lumen, her first short film "Prayer" can receive many accolades, which really makes her happy.

On March 16, she learned from a friend that the short film "Prayer" was shortlisted for the 13th Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Art "Sarina" Award. A little earlier, the local media also reported that "Prayer" was successfully shortlisted for the 20th World National Film Festival.

On the morning of the 17th, Chao Lumen, who was dressed casually, said in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Network, "The short film "Prayer" was my homework during my studies at the Beijing Film Academy, and I didn't expect to be recognized, which was very pleasantly surprised. ”

Chao Lumen was born in the Xilin Gol steppe of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and currently works in the Inner Mongolia National Language Film Translation Center. Growing up in a pastoral area, she also had a dream of film, "At that time, I often thought about when I could do this myself. ”

Perhaps by fate, she came to Hohhot Nationalities University from the Xilin Gol Grassland in 1999 to study broadcasting and hosting in the Department of Journalism. Due to the good sound conditions, after graduating in 2002, she was directly admitted to the Inner Mongolia National Language Film Translation Center to engage in dubbing and dubbing, and in recent years, she began to participate in the work of dubbing and directing.

"Up to now, he has participated in the dubbing and directing of more than 2,000 films, TV series, radio dramas and cartoons, of which more than 30 works have won various international and domestic awards." Mr. Chao was a little shy about these achievements.

"These past experiences have tempered me, but what really gives me a sense of achievement is in 2021." Chao Lumen said that this year she was recommended by the Inner Mongolia Film Group to study directing at the Beijing Film Academy and made her first film during her studies.

"Making short films was an assignment left by the teachers of the Beijing Film Academy's advanced study class, which made me feel sad at the time, I didn't know where to find materials, and then chatting with my lover triggered inspiration." Chao Lumen told reporters.

"My lover told me that in western Inner Mongolia, a pair of brothers who lost their parents depended on each other in the pastoral area, but the brother who was lazy and lazy embarked on the road of breaking the law and committing crimes, and the younger brother could only silently pray for his brother in his eyes, hoping that his brother would be rehabilitated, but the legal net was restored and not leaked, and the brother was finally arrested..."

Chao Rumen said that the story moved her deeply, and in order to make the plot more impactful, she specially designed an abandoned lamb in the short film.

"The little lamb was fed and bathed by the brothers and began to thrive." "At the end of the film, although the brother repented of his illegal and criminal behavior, he was eventually taken away by the police, and the younger brother and the lamb were left in the vast grassland." Chao Lumen said, "During my studies at the Beijing Film Academy, writing this script was not simple, and I often revised it over and over again, which took a lot of energy. ”

What is more difficult is that Chao Lumen, who directed the short film entirely at his own expense, was basically friends due to his limited financial strength. She revealed, "After 3 days of filming in Damao Banner in Inner Mongolia, a total of more than 60,000 yuan was spent before and after. ”

At the end of 2021, after the short film "Prayer" was completed, Chao Lumen began the post-editing intensively, and with the mentality of trying it out, with the help of her classmates, she put the short film into some international film festivals.

"I really didn't expect that in the end, this short film film would win some foreign film festival short film awards many times, and these achievements made me more confident in the future director's path." Said to Rumen.

What makes her feel a sense of achievement is that the recent short film "Prayer" was successfully shortlisted for the 20th World National Film Festival.

According to official information, the World National Film Festival is the only international film festival with the theme of national films in the Oscar Alliance and the International Film Festival Alliance, which is called the "Oscar of national cinema" by industry insiders and praised by the Oscar jury as "a true multicultural film festival".

"The one-year training experience at the Beijing Film Academy has improved me a lot, and now I just want to be a good director worthy of the name." Chao Lumen said he was looking forward to a better future. (End)
