Mercedes F1 driver Luis Hamilton led the first practice session of the F1 Turkish Grand Prix with a time of 1 minute 24.178 seconds.
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen was second with a gap of 0.425 seconds and Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc was third with a gap of 0.476 seconds.
Another Mercedes driver, Walteri Bottas, is 4th in the lap table, with a gap of 0.664 seconds to his teammates. Ferrari driver Sainz is fifth, 0.682 seconds behind the lead driver.
Esteban O'Conn was 0.731 seconds behind and the Alpine driver tried a hard tyre in a practice session.
From 7th place, the lap time difference from the leading driver is more than 1 second. Placed 7th to 10th are Rando Norris (McLaren), Pierre Gasly (Little Red Bull), Fernando Alonso (Alpine) and Sergio Perez (Red Bull).
Aston Martin driver Lando Stoll completed a total of 28 laps in one practice, becoming the driver with the longest test mileage in a practice.
The seven-time world champion will be 10th place back by the opening of the fourth set of internal combustion engines of the 2021 season.
