History of the winery

The history of the estate dates back to the 16th century, and the production of its wines began in the 18th century. At that time, the Dejean family officially founded the winery by cultivating vineyards in the village of Bages. In 1728, the estate was transferred to the Drouillard family. In 1749, Thomas Lynch, Pierre Drouillard's son-in-law, took over the estate and named it after his family name "Lynch". In 1824, Swiss vintage merchant Sebastien Jurine acquired the winery and later renamed it "Chateau Jurine Bages", the name used when the winery was awarded the 1855 Fifth Class. In the 60s of the 19th century, the Cayrou family took over the winery and reverted its name to "Chateau Lynch-Bages" in honor of the Linzi family, who contributed greatly to the development of the winery.

After several rounds, the Cazes family officially acquired the Linzberg estate in 1939. Since then, the beautiful Zberg Manor, which has experienced ups and downs, has finally settled down and fully entered the era of Katz family management. Under the care of the Kaz family, the Linzberg Manor has prospered and achieved many outstanding results. In 1985, for example, half a bottle of the 1975 Château des Chéteau d'Ozberg wine flew into space with NASA's STS-51-G space shuttle, an unprecedented move. In 1985, the wines of the Linzberg estate became the official wine of Cathay Pacific First Class in Hong Kong. In 1988, the winery's 1985 vintage also won the "Wine of the Year" title from Wine Spectator.

Overview of the winery

Today, the estate of Rynzberg has around 100 hectares of vineyards in Pauillac, with a strategic location and good soil drainage, which is conducive to the healthy growth of the vines. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are planted on average, with an average age of about 30 years and some vines up to 60 years old. In addition, a small number of white grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Muscadelle are planted in the vineyards. Since 2006, the winery team has been able to divide the plots in great detail in combination with state-of-the-art satellite technology and soil quality studies, allowing a more precise analysis of the potential of the plots and the interpretation of the terroir. At present, in addition to the main wine, the Lynzberg estate also produces the sub-brand wine Echo de Lynch-Bages, Pauillac, France and the Blanc de Lynch-Bages, Bordeaux, France.
