The applicant for the retrial is Beijing MUJI Investment Co., Ltd., etc., and the respondent is MUJI (Shanghai) Commercial Co., Ltd.

The result of the judgment was to reject the retrial applications of Beijing Cotton Field Textile Co., Ltd. and Beijing Muji Investment Co., Ltd.

According to the ruling, according to the facts ascertained by the courts of first and second instance, the trademark involved in the case (The trademark "MUJI" was not used on the "towel" and "thin quilt" of the alleged infringing product (No. 1561046 and No. 7494239), and the trademark "MUJI" registered by the parent company of MUJI Shanghai Company was used in accordance with the law. The relevant application reasons submitted by Cotton Field Company and Beijing MUJI Company will not be supported by this court.

According to media reports, Liangpin Co., Ltd. planned to enter China for the first time in 2005, but the "MUJI" word trademark was registered as early as 2000, and then transferred to Beijing Cotton Field Textile Co., Ltd. Since 2001, Liangpin Co., Ltd. has objected to the registration of the trademark involved in the case, but ultimately lost the lawsuit and could only use the english word "MUJI". At present, Beijing Cotton Field Textile Co., Ltd. has opened many stores in Beijing under the brand of "MUJI Natural Mills".
