He began elementary school at the age of 4, and when he was 5 years old, he had already composed his first nursery rhyme "Spring": "Spring has arrived, peach blossoms have blossomed, birds have flown, and yellow ducks have called in trees." In 1959, Shi Guangnan was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music, and in the ocean of music, he was like a happy fish swimming freely, while absorbing a lot of nutrition. Later, someone introduced them to each other, which made Hong Ruding feel very excited. She still remembered the time when they first met, and Shi Guangnan didn't say a word, just holding a glass of water to drink. And he kept his head down, not even daring to look at her. Hong Ruding knew that he was a shy young man, so he found a topic of his own and said, I have heard the songs you wrote, but it is really good.
Unexpectedly, it was this sentence that opened Shi Guangnan's box of words at once. He talked incessantly, and when he said that his face was still glowing at the emotional place, Hong Ruding couldn't speak if he wanted to. However, Shi Guangnan was not satisfied with his achievements, and he still had a dream in his heart, that is, to add bricks and tiles to China's opera art.
In 1981, the China Opera and Dance Theater planned to bring Mr. Lu Xun's "Wounded Death" to the opera stage. The music was composed by Shi Guangnan. But to create such a large opera work, there is no additional remuneration. Shi Guangnan did not care about this, he said: I am not for money, but for a mission.
So, wearing an old sweater with an open line and nibbling on cold bread, Shi Guangnan sat on the old piano that his father gave him, and began the music composition of the opera "Wounded Death". At that time, he often forgot to eat and sleep for a melody, and usually sat at the piano for eight or nine hours. Hong Ruding was very distressed about him and advised him to take a break, but he did not listen, always saying that it would be good to finish this paragraph.
In the end, the large-scale opera "Wounded Death" was performed in Beijing in the autumn of 1981 and was a success. Before Shi Guangnan could feel the joy of success, he was given the task of composing the opera Qu Yuan. He was very happy. As long as there is a job, he is always in a happy state, as if the source of his happiness is music.
However, at that time, the popular music in our country had just sprouted, and it quickly showed a state of vigorous development. Soon, few young people will be willing to listen to traditional music and folk music. This made Shi Guangnan feel lost. But he still did not give up on creation. Even if people around him say to him, you write more pop music, don't write opera, but he doesn't listen. He said that I can write more than a dozen pop songs a day, but I want Chinese opera to be on the world stage.
I think that at this time, Shi Guangnan was actually in a very lonely state, but such an artist, in his heart, dreams are more important than everything, and he will never give up his persistence for the sake of vanity and interests.

I remember his good friend Wang Liping, who wrote music for the 87 version of the TV series "Dream of the Red Chamber", told us that as long as he (Shi Guangnan) entered the creative state, he was like a cow, and he could sit at the piano all day without getting down.
On March 17, 1990, when the opera "Qu Yuan" finally met with the audience, Shi Guangnan seemed to have finally realized his wish. On April 18, 1990, he suddenly fell by the piano and never got up again...
I remember that day, Shi Guangnan was still teaching his daughter Shi Honglei to sing, but his body began to slide to the ground. Shi Honglei was frightened and quickly called her mother home. Hong Ruding sent Shi Guangnan to the hospital for the first time, but he was unable to return to heaven - Shi Guangnan suddenly suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and had died of brain death.
How can such a talented musical talent be so young and just walk away? The unit coordinated the hospital to carry out rescue for more than ten days, but it still failed to snatch Shi Guangnan back from the death line. On May 2, 1990, Shi Guangnan died in Beijing at the age of 49.
