Guan Shaozhen was also working in the sales department at this time, and the two had a relationship, when Yu'er was only 9 months old.
In 1952, Guan Shaozhen and Li Fangqian married in Xinxiang, and Guan Shaozhen changed yu'er's name to Guan Muyuan. At the end of the year, Pingyuan Province was abolished, and Guan Shaozhen and his wife were transferred to Beijing to work. In 1953, Li Fangqian was about to give birth, considering that there was no one to take care of confinement in Beijing, coupled with the high level of consumption in Beijing, Guan Shaozhen sent his wife back to Xinxiang, Henan Province, and gave birth to a child at the home of Li Fangqian's fifth sister. As a result, Guan Mucun was born in Xinxiang, Henan.
In 1955, his younger brother Guan Muye was born in Beijing. The following year, Li Fangqian was diagnosed with stomach cancer, and the hospital asked Soviet experts to perform surgery on her. The operation lasted 4 hours and was relatively successful.
After being discharged from the hospital, Li Fangqian was recuperating at home, basically incapacitated from work, and did not go out to work again. On December 6, 1963, Li Fangqian died tragically because of the spread of cancer cells in the body, at the age of 40, and the Guan Mucun family was devastated.

At this time, Guan Mucun entered the Tianjin Song and Dance Theater and had a monthly income. The brother's family was in financial difficulty, and Guan Mucun often helped his brother. Soon, Guan Shaozhen was resumed to work and entered the Tianjin Sixth Bureau of the State Administration of Construction Engineering. In 1980, Guan Muyuan got in touch with his ninth aunt, and only then did he learn that his biological father, Liu Yaodong, had settled in the United States.
