The first time I watched Zhang Ailing that year, the first one I watched was "The First Burning Incense", which was too shocking after reading. In Zhang Ailing's text, "The First Burning Incense" is a very good story, in which each reader can taste different flavors, and the description of human nature makes people marvel at the case.
But the same plot is copied to the screen, and it is boring.
Therefore, judging whether a film is good or bad really should not be whether it is close to the original book, but whether it is good enough. Fitting to the original book is not necessarily good-looking, and proper adaptation may be better.
In terms of fitting the original work, "The First Incense" is the plot pasted eight or nine not far from ten, but the theme is not posted at all, which is also the point of being complained about by the original party.

The first is the problem of casting, before the release of the film, it has been making a lot of noise on the Internet, but I actually do not believe in evil, otherwise I would not have bought a ticket to see it.

But the problem is that the heroine is really hard to believe that she can make money by making social flowers.

In the original work, there is also no wave of plot, but the author highlights human nature everywhere, and Ge Weilong's final fall is not because of love, but because of various realistic factors and his own desires.

In fact, from this film, you can also see why Zhang Ailing's novel is not easy to adapt, because she is too good at describing human nature from subtleties, and her story is not as ups and downs as Qiong Yao's novel.
The themes of Qiong Yao's novels are very simple, but the story is strong enough, so it is easy to attract people to read. The theme of Zhang Ailing's novel is relatively complex, the story is not exciting enough, and the difficulty of adaptation is naturally very large, because the story itself is too difficult to give people a refreshing feeling.
The theme of the complex story, one is difficult to shoot, the other is that the audience may not like to be so complicated, so Xu Anhua simplified it, what desire reality, it is better to directly shoot into love and can not, how easy to understand, publicity is also easy.
It's just a pity that in this way, everything is thin, and the previous plot is a bit ridiculous. It's like a life drama has a heart for an idol drama, very fragmented.

Another point of the film is that some plots are inexplicable, and some characters are also inexplicable.
For example, the part of the aunt's funeral, I don't know whether it is a memory or a do, if it is a memory, what is the role?
I really didn't understand, and besides, the protagonist is Ge Weilong, her psychology is not clear, the aunt's explanation is so much, is not the end of the upside down.
In fact, in the whole film, there are too many clips of aunts, and probably the filmmakers also know that the audience is more interested in aunts, so they simply shoot more aunts.
But in this way, the heroine is even more unable to stand.
Some characters flash by, and then there is no explanation, feeling that they are all tool people, which also makes the story seem chaotic. For example, Georgie Joe's sister, who has a lot of shots, is dancing and flirting, and has no idea what the purpose is. Dancing that shot is so long, and dancing is not very good, it is really embarrassing.
There is also what Ge Weilong encountered on the ship when he was preparing to leave Hong Kong and return to Shanghai. That paragraph is actually very good, it can pull the theme deeper, because that paragraph can clearly perceive that returning to Shanghai is not a good choice, and the life at the bottom is breathless.
Unfortunately, the plot behind it is not in line with it, so that the audience can easily ignore this paragraph and even think it is inexplicable.
From this paragraph, it can also be seen that the director wants to bring out a more realistic theme, who knows that the back is full of love and the pain of youth.
No wonder the audience scolded, there are too many slots.
The only advantage of watching this film is that I began to think about whether Ge Weilong had a better choice, and the result of thinking was that her ending was not a reality and desire, but because she was young, thinking that what she could grasp in front of her was the best.
