Awaken a sense of festive ritual and retelling love and tolerance
The Chinese-youth Bloomsbury edition of "Christmas Song" exclusively includes recommended videos by Cindy Sagrew, director of the Dickens Museum, Louisa Price, director of the Dickens Museum, and Du Tao, deputy envoy for trade at the British Embassy in China. It also includes a presentation by food historian Pen Vogler of Dickens's exclusive punch-making and Christmas pudding recipes, allowing us to see the culinary and housework talents of a Victorian Dickens. "Christmas Song" is known as the model for the British Christmas dinner, for the authentic British Christmas dinner, Christmas pudding is an indispensable dessert, but before the publication of this book, Christmas pudding was just a common dessert called "plum pudding", after which the plum pudding officially became a Christmas pudding.
Jenny Hartley wrote in the preface, "Dickens was called the 'man who invented Christmas,'" and the most important thing for Dickens was the idea of the holiday, and everything it represented. The lesson that Skrutz received from it was about the festive spirit of kindness and generosity, about the thoughts and cares for others: this was the central point of the festival in Dickens's heart. In the preface, the translator Bai Ma mentions that two of the most popular writers in the West and China, Rowling and Jin Yong, also unanimously regard Dickens as their favorite. When he was ten years old, Jin Yong's father gave him a copy of "Christmas Songs", which became a book of his life, and he read it every year. The Christmas hymn is short, but the spirit of love and tolerance it awakens will live on forever. Du Tao, deputy envoy for trade at the British Embassy in China, said that Dickens is very good at using words to connect literature with ordinary people, so that everyone can feel the joy of the festival, and hopes that more and more Chinese readers will enjoy Dickens's works together.
