In the hot summer of 2021, a very strict "time-limited return order" suddenly set off a huge wave from the Internet, from the north to the three eastern provinces of Inner Mongolia, south to Guangxi Hainan, almost all large and small townships across the country were involved.
The key target of the return order is a place called "Northern Myanmar". In some short video media, people can more or less understand that although it is located in Myanmar, everyone speaks Chinese, uses RMB, and is like a family in Yunnan Province next door, which is an authentic "Little China".
Northern Myanmar is the only foreigner in the world who truly cares about China, so why does the mainland issue such a harsh order against them? And why do so many Chinese people from so many provinces in the north, south, east and west want to go there?
The land of the fallen
Since the mainland adjusted its epidemic prevention policies, people can't wait to plan a long-awaited trip abroad.
As one of the most popular tourist destinations for Chinese tourists, Thailand is a must-go for many people, Pattaya, Phuket, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, one familiar name after another, bringing huge RMB income to Thailand every year.
However, around 2017, a major human trafficking case in Thailand revealed the tragic fate of unfortunate tourists in the shadows of tourist destinations.
In fact, every year, a large number of people disappear inexplicably in Thailand, never to be found again. At the same time, there is a growing international understanding that Thailand, where corruption is rife in the criminal transnational human trafficking and organ trade industry, has been an extremely important trading center and transit point. Here, through special means, you can buy living people and living human organs of all skin colors.
Fortunately, thanks to the strength of the country, in general, Chinese tourists do not fall victim to such tragedies.
After the outbreak of the new crown epidemic in 2019, especially in 2020, this rare safety was suddenly broken, from the underground black market of blood and flesh in Thailand, there will be some organs derived from Chinese.
Through investigation and analysis, some reports on the international network pointed the source of this phenomenon to northern Myanmar, which is close to Thailand.
The term "northern Myanmar" may seem harmless to humans and animals, but in fact, it is firmly linked to the world's notorious drug-producing region "Golden Triangle", which is inseparable, and for us Chinese, it has another very special identity: the homeland of China.
In 1941, the British, which occupied Burma at that time, took advantage of the Japanese invasion of China to fall into trouble against Chiang Kai-shek's government, and forced the Kuomintang to sign the "Sino-British Agreement on the Joint Defense of the Burma Road" with Britain under the threat of closing the Burma Road, in which it agreed to use the Wa Mountain as the China/Burma border line and transfer tens of thousands of square kilometers of Yunnan Province territory in Hanjiangxinpo and Nankan to Burma.
Legend has it that when Zhuge Liang marched south, using the advanced productive forces of the Central Plains to teach and pacify the backward primitive tribes here, the Wa made a thousand-year vow to guard the southwest gate for China.
Unfortunately, with the 1941 border demarcation agreement signed by the British under duress, after the independence of China and Myanmar, the complete Wa Mountain Area could only be divided into two after all, except for a few Wa tribes in Panlao Panhong, the rest of the Wa tribes, together with the Kachin and Kokang in the north, have since been included in the territory of Burma.
We cannot blame the choice of the Wa tribal leaders, in addition to treaty constraints, but also because the natural environment in northern Myanmar is barren and harsh, and when the People's Republic of China was founded, there were even tribes that were still almost primitive. At the beginning of Myanmar's independence, with the foundation left by the British, it was the leading rich country in Asia, and its standard of living was much higher than that of the poor and white New China.
A place where dirt and dirt are hidden
Since 2016, a large number of "businessmen" from Taiwan, Hong Kong and China have withdrawn their investments in the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia and other countries, and have come to such a small place as northern Myanmar.
These so-called "bosses" are all demons in human skin, and they are all telecom fraudsters. The motivation to drive them to northern Myanmar stems from China's close cooperation with these Southeast Asian countries to combat the increasingly powerful and effective fight against the telecom fraud industry.
They chose northern Myanmar as a new den for China's telecom fraud industry because of its huge advantages that are unique in the world. It's just that under the "advantage" is the complete tragedy of the remnants of the Chinese homeland.
Only a few years after Myanmar's independence, ethnic minority leaders in the north who chose to join Myanmar repented. Taking advantage of their population and geographical advantages, the Burmese began to promote great Burmanism throughout Myanmar, and the promise of equal nationhood among all ethnic groups was forgotten.
At that time, due to ideological background, China also provided strong support for the armed revolutionary line of the Communist Party of Myanmar, which plunged Myanmar into a decades-long civil war, and the domestic standard of living rapidly degraded from the first in Asia to the ranks of the world's least developed countries.
Taking the Wa ethnic group, which is divided in two, as an example, the old tribe of Banhongban on the Chinese side has completed the socialist transformation, and in a peaceful and tranquil environment, it has developed rapidly with brothers of all ethnic groups in the country, and has long established beautiful modern buildings in the original villages.
The part of the Wa State that remained in Myanmar did not reluctantly achieve a ceasefire with the Burmese government forces until 1988, but it was still necessary to maintain the system of all people being soldiers, and it was necessary to be tense at all times and maintain a high degree of vigilance against the government forces.
As a result of decades of civil war, the Kachin-Kokang-Wa-Xiaomengla line on the border between Yunnan and Myanmar was unwilling to accept the discriminatory rule of the Burmese government, and could no longer return to their home country, but could only be ruled by local warlords.
These warlords all have a large number of private armies, ranging from thousands to tens of thousands, and the daily expenses of supporting the army are a huge number.
However, the terrain of northern Myanmar is high mountains and dense forests, and there are almost no opportunities suitable for the development of any industry, nor can it get the huge dividends of China's development.
The Chinese government is not unaware of the ins and outs of the complex geopolitics of northern Myanmar and some of the last resorts in the region, because the residents of the two places do not live separately, but to a considerable extent, they still have their hearts to the mother country, and have spent a lot of effort to support the local alternative planting, sugar extraction, rubber and other industries, so that the local area can get rid of its backward appearance and dirty economy as soon as possible and become regular.
But for local warlords who can't get enough subsidies from both governments to enjoy luxury while maintaining a large military, the money is never too much, and because the Chinese government is absolutely intolerant of drugs, the warlords have to make a fuss about pornography and gambling, opening luxurious casinos along the border to attract Chinese tourists.
The terrible Northern Myanmar
For local warlords in northern Myanmar, they are ambivalent.
On the one hand, as long as they don't violate the Chinese government's drug red lines and pay enough tax cuts, telecom fraud is no different from the long-running pornographic gambling industry, so they are happy to see businessmen bring capital to the impoverished and remote mountains of northern Myanmar to bring jobs and income to the local area.
On the other hand, local daily necessities must be imported from China, and the warlords dare not personally run these dirty industries that are abhorred in China.
So the "smart" warlord landlords came up with the best of both worlds, that is, they went out to guard the industrial park, and the dark business carried out in the buildings inside was all handled by the Chinese himself.
Although for historical reasons, we can have some sympathy for these Chinese people of northern Myanmar, we must also be soberly aware that they have not undergone a comprehensive ideological transformation of New China, and the proportion of waste in the Chinese culture preserved is far higher than ordinary people can imagine.
The local people have very bad political relations with the Burmans, Myanmar's main ethnic group, get along much better with the Chinese government, and are economically dependent on China, where the Chinese language and renminbi can be seamlessly connected to the country. It is by taking advantage of this that casino owners in northern Myanmar have long been in the habit of recruiting employees in China through various channels to serve Chinese tourists at casinos.
Therefore, people who were unwilling or unable to get rich through hard work in China due to various factors, saw various high-paying job postings from northern Myanmar, and they could not help but move their minds and set off on the journey to the Yunnan border.
In the eyes of these workers, they are going to a "good place" with no communication costs, as if looking for a job in the country. But when they really enter Myanmar's territory, the bubble of dreams is ruthlessly shattered: a border between a border means the difference between heaven and hell, and the harsh reality cannot be concealed by the appearance of the same language.
As mentioned earlier, local warlords generally do not come forward, and the same Chinese are those who do these things. It's just that without the constraints of domestic laws and regulations, all human evil has become unscrupulous in the buildings of northern Myanmar.
Victims are imprisoned in disguised buildings rented by scam companies, living a life of hardship and isolation like military training, working in dirty and dirty industries, and completing a large number of fraud indicators every day through the phone and the Internet. Private armed forces hired by the bosses from the warlords guarded the park with live ammunition, using security and other pretexts to prevent fraudsters from easily escaping.
The front-line scammers who were locked up in the company also received retribution: corporal punishment and beatings were commonplace if they failed to achieve results. Those who regret it have long lost the freedom to return home.
For northern Myanmar people who came out of the bloody storm, even if there is no telecommunications fraud, they are accustomed to using violence in drugs, pornography, and gambling, especially in the process of competing for drug business and resolving gambling debt disputes, treating human life as grass and mustard is almost as natural as eating and drinking.
Who is to blame for the chaos in northern Myanmar?
Is northern Myanmar, which has taken off the veil, a hell for online commentary, the so-called "capital of sin"? Is the rumor on the Internet on the Internet that Internet celebrities in northern Myanmar are shooting positive energy videos to deceive Chinese people, and the rumors of "Kawaizi" trafficking human organs behind their backs are true or false? What perspective should we have on this lost land?
Simply put, ordinary Chinese should indeed stay as far away from northern Myanmar as possible. Because since the inclusion of Myanmar territory became a foregone conclusion, the local society was destined to leave a strong feudal cultural residue. The concern of local warlords for their own selfish interests far outweighs the remaining national feelings, and it is absolutely impossible for them to adopt domestic revolutionary ideas to transform their warlord consciousness.
This also means that as long as they can pay taxes and take commissions for themselves, these warlords will continue to turn a blind eye to the undesirable industries, in fact, secretly support the attitude, and continue to regard Chinese as a rolling source of money.
And for those Chinese who cannot make any more money for the warlords, they will not treat them kindly with the feelings of their compatriots, and return them to China freely, but squeeze out the last use value.
For example, in casinos, if Chinese gamblers owe huge gambling debts and cannot repay, they can affect their families at home, or they will be tortured and tortured in the private prison of warlords, and even their hands and feet will be cut off and killed.
Since 2020, some organs in Thailand's underground human body trading market have come from employees who have been tricked into working in fraud parks in northern Myanmar. Because of the recruitment of a Chinese, the merchants need to pay tens of thousands of dollars, if they can't get their money back, these demon bosses will mercilessly kill people and take away the organs that can be sold to return the money.
But on the other hand, the close blood ties between the local people and the mainland and the good feelings of yearning for China cannot be said to be completely false.
The local ethnic minorities deeply hate the great Burmanism and have never been able to live in harmony with the Burmans, while the warlords of China and Myanmar who are culturally advanced and want to change the backward appearance of their own nation will naturally choose to turn to China on their own initiative.
The local power and communication infrastructure is built by Yunnan Province, and the teaching materials are directly used in Yunnan school supplies, and the governments at all levels in Yunnan actually have considerable influence on the warlords in northern Myanmar.
In order to investigate the relationship between some northern Myanmar Internet celebrities and fraud groups, the Yunnan police can even go directly to the place of the incident to investigate, so when the country's "return order" is over, the northern Myanmar government is no longer willing, and can only obediently cooperate with the release of people.
Growing up under the red flag, we have no concept of the "old evil society" described in textbooks as warlords. In fact, considering the identity of the people of northern Burma, we may as well regard them as the best specimen of the old Chinese society.
