Leclerc in Bahrain finished fifth in the first and fourth in the second, 0.46 seconds behind the leader Alonso and about 0.3 seconds slower than Verstappen and Perez. While Leclerc expects Aston Martin's strong performance to decline on Saturday, the Monegasque believes Ferrari still lacks the strength to compete for pole position. Leclerc believes the SF-23 has "a lot of work to do" in terms of race speed. However, Leclerc believes the SF-23 car is performing much better today than in last week's pre-season test, when Leclerc deliberately adopted an understeer setting.
