In 1966, he collaborated with Yoshinaga Sayuri on his first film, Record of Love and Death. Originally, the male protagonist was another person, but due to his injury, he was temporarily replaced by Tetsuya Watanabe, and he also won the Newcomer Award at the 17th Blue Ribbon Awards. Tetsuya Watanabe and Yoshinaga Koyuri, who was already famous at the time, sparked a love spark, and the two later collaborated on "Storm Warrior" and "Whose Chair?" and other works.
