The U.S.-Mexico border is full of killers This year, 46 people have been killed on the Mexican side

Mexico's National Immigration Bureau disclosed on the 6th that 46 immigrants who tried to cross-border entry into the United States this year have died on the Mexican side, from Honduras, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela and Mexico. In July, the United States arrested some 213,000 illegal immigrants attempting to enter the United States from Mexico, and many others were stopped inside Mexico. According to this data, the actual number of stowaways who have died at the border should be higher, because the area illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border is not only complex, but also the local organized crime is rampant.

According to the Statistics of the National Immigration Institute (INM), which is a subsidiary of the Mexican Ministry of the Interior, the remains of 46 immigrants who tried to enter the United States from Mexico were found on the Mexican side from January to August this year, including 22 drowning in the Rio Grande River on the US-Mexico border. The area through which the river passes is mostly rugged, dry and sparsely populated. Other causes of death include accidents, weapon attacks, health problems, dehydration in the desert, etc.

The statement said that because half of the dead did not carry identity documents, they could not be identified; the remaining identifiable dead were from Honduras, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Cuba, Venezuela and Mexico.

In addition, 37 of the deceased were male, 8 were female and 1 was a boy.

The actual death toll could be much higher than 46, given the rampant organized crime and the danger lurking on the way from Mexico to the United States. On January 22 of this year, 19 burned bodies, most of them migrants from Guatemala, were found in camargo, in northeastern Mexico's Tamaulipas state, considered organized crime.

According to the U.S. Border Patrol (CBP), about 213,000 illegal immigrants attempting to enter the U.S. from Mexico were arrested in July, the highest number of arrests in nearly 20 years. Many other migrants were stopped and repatriated by Mexican soldiers before they reached the U.S. border.

According to the Associated Press and other media, former US President Trump has implemented an asylum application policy called "Remain in Mexico" since January 2019. Under the relevant Migrant Protection Protocols, asylum seekers entering the United States from the U.S.-Mexico border must return to Mexico to await the outcome of their applications, but these asylum seekers typically have to wait for months in Mexican border cities.

In June, the Biden administration announced the official end of the "stay in Mexico" asylum application policy. But on Aug. 24, the Biden administration's decision was rejected by the Supreme Court. At least five of the six conservative judges on the Supreme Court, including the 3 trump-appointed judges, voted in favor of reviving the Trump-era policy. (End)
