At about 3:00 a.m. on June 25, a fire broke out at a martial arts gym in Yuanxiang North Street, Zhaocheng County, Shangqiu City, killing 18 people, seriously injuring four people, and slightly injuring 12 others. Xinhua News Agency reporters confirmed from multiple sources that the victims were all practitioners of the martial arts gym.
The Zhaocheng County Market Supervision Bureau provided a fact sheet saying that the martial arts hall is called the Zhecheng County Zhenxing International Fighting Club, and the founder Chen Lin was registered in the Niucheng Office of the Zhecheng County Market Supervision Bureau on August 30, 2017, and the business scope is martial arts training.
Zhan Heyi, captain of the Fire Rescue Brigade of Zhecheng County, introduced that as a martial arts training institution, the place should take the initiative to handle fire design, acceptance or filing procedures, but the building where the institution is located is a villager's self-built house, and the nature of construction is not a training institution, and there is no review, acceptance or fire protection filing procedures at present.
