The Ogre of Tsavo is an adventure book based on reality featuring the British engineer Lieutenant Colonel Patterson. Patterson, whose full name is John Henry Patterson, was born in 1867 and is famous in world history for two things:
The first to discover and successfully capture the mythical and legendary East African giant antelope; long-term waiting for the rabbit, fighting wits and courage with two extremely fierce African man-eating lions, and painstakingly solving the crisis of the man-eating lion. The man-eating lion mentioned here is the Chavo lion, also known as the maneless lion, which is distributed in Kenya and Tanzania.
Unlike ordinary lions, the male lion of the Chavo lion has no mane, and the hair is the dignity of animals (but also the dignity of people), and the evolutionary direction of the Chavo lion actually goes towards "hair removal", which is really incredible. In fact, the reason for this is not complicated, when the colonists came to Africa, in order to obtain the head of the mane lion to decorate the room, they shot and killed a large number of Chavo male lions.

In 1898, Patterson was responsible for the construction of a railway bridge over the Chavo River in Kenya, a project in which a large number of Indian laborers were selling manpower. No one expected that on the beautiful chavo river, two dark ghosts quietly appeared, that is, two huge chavo lions, they did not hunt other animals at all, and targeted these Indians who were working.
These Indian workers work during the day, sleep in tents at night, and there is no protection around the camp, and everyone does not think that any animal is so bold as to hit the idea on the head of humans. But soon, there were screams in the camp, and two Chavo lions, in the shape of ghosts, quickly dragged the workers away from the tents, and the others woke up and tried to follow the route they had left to save people, but found nothing, and finally found only the bones that had been eaten away.
No matter how the workers built guardrails, lit fires, and took turns patrolling, the two Chavo lions did not pay attention to humans, and launched a series of surprise attacks. A few months later, the Chavo lion had eaten nearly 30 workers, and the remaining workers did not dare to stay in the place anymore and fled, and Patterson, in a fit of rage, decided to go out on his own horse and kill the two man-eating lions completely.
However, patterson's conventional traps and deliberately placed poisonous food were completely ineffective against the two Chavo lions. They seem to have completely figured out the human routine and have never been deceived. Patterson tossed and turned for a long time and finally had to admit that waiting for the rabbit was probably the best way to do it. He began to wait quietly at night at the guard post, staying up so dry that he did not dare to go to sleep, and in the quiet of the night, lions and people competed for endurance.

Patterson recalls that the two Chavo lions had swallowed up 135 workers (others believe it was more than thirty) before they were killed.
Why is the Lion of Chavo so hateful and obsessed with human flesh? Later scientists believe that these two lions inherited the habit of feeding on people from their parents, and their teeth are damaged, and it is a better choice to abandon the dexterous animals and attack humans who are more likely to be hunted and move more slowly.
