In recent days, the beauty world has furious about makeup artist Mary Phillips' behind-the-art technology for her front-line clients — Kendall, Hailey, Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian and others — to create three-dimensional but fresh skin.

User @inamarimaki summed up the beauty secret, saying that Mary "basically turned the normal makeup routine upside down."
After the technique became widely circulated, Mary even joined TikTok to solve her method.
"It's like putting bones under the skin," she shared in a Jan. 9 video. "Contours and highlights are bones, skin is the foundation."
This isn't the first time she's gotten into her beauty skills.
In a 2018 tutorial on YouTuber Melissa Alatorre's channel, Mary noted that applying contours as a first step is equivalent to "creating bone structure." Once she has shaped her face with contouring and concealer, she blends it with a brush.
After that, she will add foundation and mix it with a fluffy powder brush (another interesting trick since she doesn't use a foundation brush). Next, she contours and highlights her face again, and applies dark foundation on top to make everything look seamless.
