Private Blockbuster Album of the Year: Heavy Mouth, Cult, Music, Psychedelic

So far in 2018 I've only seen 181 movies, almost the least in recent years, probably because... both generations of Assassin's Creed are so much fun (fog).

As a rock radio anchor and cult fan, I still pick out the private list of movies I have seen this year that best suits my personal taste, so don't be surprised that many popular movies are not among my recommendations.

Invincible Destruction King 2: Make a big fuss about the Internet

Ralph Breaks the Internet

Douban 8.2 points

I liked the previous game very much, but after all, it was a game-themed movie (and an arcade), and if I was younger, the younger generation without the memories of the "three halls and one room" in the 90s is not expected to have so many surprises and tears.

To be reasonable, I really didn't expect the sequel to this film to be so good, especially some of the satire and ridicule of the Internet is really three points (such as pop-up advertising, such as the first law of the Internet: don't look at the comments). The sequel plot is more friendly to young people, the Easter eggs are also invincible, and the viewing process has a feeling of surprise.

Dog Thirteen

Douban 8.4 points

When at the end of the movie, Li Play calmly said "thank you uncle" and chewed up the piece of dog meat, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, another child "grew up", "matured", "sensible", I believe that every child who grew up in a Chinese family can find resonance in this movie.

The film has many more surprises for rock fans, such as the use of two songs "Nervous" and "Don't Cry" by the waist band; the soundtrack was made by folk musician Bai Shui; not to mention that you can still hear Lee playing Nirvana and Avril Lavigne sticking to her bedside.

City of Bombs

Bomb City

Douban 7.1 points

As a rock 'n' roll fan, especially as a punk, you always have to be mentally prepared to be a "minority", but are you really prepared for this?

Based on a true story, the film tells the story of a punk youth who was killed twice: punk Brian Denek did die, and he was killed twice, once in the bottom of Cadillac's car, and once in the court where he was supposed to be wronged.

Ordinary woman

A fantastic woman

Douban 7.3 points

According to the custom of Douban, I also choose an annual LGBT movie, because "Ordinary Woman" will still be a very good work even if it is placed in the category of drama films.

I like some of the clever passages designed in the film: when the heroine of the film has worked so hard to overcome her inner shadow, shielding out the secondary sexual characteristics that define herself, and finally opening the storage box No. 181, it is empty.

Party hookup tips

How to Talk to Girls at Parties

Douban 6.7 points

Don't be fooled by the title, this film adaptation of The Neal Gaiman(the brain-hole writer who wrote "The Gods of America") is a perfect way to show people how unbelievable a director who has stumbled on drugs can make a movie.

One of the most psychotic movies I've seen in 2018, not one.

A string of life

Douban 9.0 points

If you can only watch one documentary in 2018, watch "A String of Life", but you have to be prepared to grow ten pounds.

I first paid attention to this film because Station B pushed the issue of "Dark Cuisine", but when roasted moths and roast pig eyes, which only listen to the name and make people feel scattered, really can't help but swallow.

"A String of Life" has only six episodes, which basically shoots out the essence of Chinese barbecue culture, and the stories of human fireworks that are inadvertently interspersed in it are the finishing touches.

Finally, the ending song comes from a small band in Yichang, Jiubei, who also became popular because of this film.

Genetic doom

Hereditary

In 2018, I watched a lot of horror movies, but when I think about it, what really left me with a long psychological shadow seems to be only this "Genetic Doom".

At the end of the day, I think the essence of horror movies is to combine an everyday thing with an element of horror, so the virgin who crawls out of the TV will make you dare not go to the toilet every night - because you dare not go through the living room with the TV set; and the tongue-popping sound in "Genetic Doom" will also make your back tingle every time you hear this sound later.

midsummer

Summer

Douban 7.8 points

Before the release of "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Midsummer" was temporarily my best musical film of the year, and this biopic adaptation of the former Soviet rock godfather Victor Choi's previous experience before he became famous is very novel, a combination of illusion and reality, and the special edition adaptation of classic songs is particularly outstanding.

My personal favorite is the adaptation of one of the "Perfect Day", and almost every song in the film you can watch as a MV, the most classic of course is the paragraph that pays tribute to countless album covers, just watching that piece is worth it!

Wild boys

The Wild Boys

If you're a cult fan like me, "Wild Boys" will almost certainly be the best of the year.

The film was shot entirely on 16mm film, which alone is enough to be maverick, and once you see its bizarre picture, the psychedelic color will definitely make you unforgettable.

The theme of "Wild Boys" is even more indescribable... In "Clockwork Orange", the bad boys are brainwashed, and "Wild Boys" simply let the bad boys' chickens fall off naturally... emmmmmmm~

Most importantly, the film allowed me to rediscover Nina Hagen, a rape scene in the film where I got goosebumps all over my body when Nina Hagen's Natureträne sounded, and the song probably became the most looped song of 2018.
