According to foreign media reports, Ugandan actor Nikita Pearl Waligwa, who played a chess prodigy in the Disney film "Katui Queen", died at the age of 15. The 2016 film is based on the true story of 9-year-old chess player Fiona Mutasi, who was born in Katui, Uganda's largest slum. However, Nikita is not the main actor in the film, but plays Fiona's friend in the film.

Nikita was reportedly first diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016, and Mila Nair, director of "Katui Queen," helped the young actress get treatment in India, and although Nikita was cured in 2017, the tumor was detected again in 2019. When Nikita died, he was only a senior at Gaza High School.
David Oylo, the male star of "Katui Queen", said in a social media post: "We mourn the loss of the beautiful Nikita, she is a light in life. Her struggle with brain tumors bears witness to all this and her light will always be on."
