Taitung pineapple Shakya went on the market, the purchase price was almost cut by half, and Taiwanese fruit farmers were miserably killed by the DPP authorities

Almost every once in a while, you can see the news that Taiwanese fruit farmers complain about the cheap fruits hurt the people and the fruits are unsold. In recent years, the Taiwan authorities have frequently "sought independence" and provoked, and instead of reflecting on problems, they have constantly poured dirty water on the mainland, causing Taiwan fruit farmers to suffer greatly from them, and they have no return to their blood and want to cry without tears.

According to a report by the island's Zhongshi News Network on the 2nd, the first phase of pineapple shakya fruits is currently on the market, but due to the cold and hot weather, many shakya gardens in Beinan Township, Taitung County have seriously fallen fruit. The mainland suspended the import of Shakya after detecting pests and diseases from the fruit in September last year, while 90% of Taitung pineapple Shakya is sold to the mainland market. After the mainland suspended the import of Shakya, the purchase price of Taitung Shakya fell by 50% compared with last year, almost cutting off the half, and the fruit farmers suffered heavy losses.

According to reports, a fruit farmer surnamed Cai in Liji Village, Beinan Township, Taitung County, planted 7 hectares of Shakya, and one of the Shakya orchards began to bear fruit last week, and he reluctantly said that this year suffered heavy losses. Due to the unstable climate, hot weather and heavy rain, resulting in serious fruit drop, it is no longer possible to export, and the purchase price is lower than the same period last year, so we can only accept the bleak status quo.

At present, most of the orchards that have fallen fruit are in the area of Beinan Township, Taitung, and the purchase price of Shakya that can be harvested is about 30 yuan for 1 catty, which is almost 50% lower than last year's purchase price. Some farmers pointed out that one carton alone costs nearly 30 yuan, and the packaging is very labor-intensive, and it is impossible to make ends meet.

It can be said that Shakya's plight has plagued almost the entire Taitung, because Taiwan's Shakya production areas are basically gathered in the Taitung area, and about 90% of the Shakya fruits are exported to the mainland, not only in large quantities, but also at reasonable prices, bringing huge planting benefits to Taitung fruit farmers, and these fruit farmers did not have to worry about the problem of slow sales before, and now after the mainland suspended imports, fruit farmers have to face the situation that Shakya has nowhere to sell.

In recent years, the cultivation technology of Shakya fruit in Yunnan, Guangxi and other places has become more and more mature, basically enough for the mainland people to buy demand, even if the mainland stops the ban in the future, I am afraid that it will be difficult for the island to have a market in the mainland. After all, the Taiwan authorities' approach has broken the hearts of many mainland people, who on the one hand hope that the mainland will buy fruits on the island, but on the other hand they splash dirty water, and no one can bear such grievances.

(Pests detected in Shakya by the National Television Office)

At that time, the mainland suspended the import of Shakya because of the detection of diseases and pests in the fruit, of which 11 batches were detected with oceanic rump mealybugs, 1 batch was detected with oceanic rump mealybugs and cocoa gall, and 1 batch was detected with new pineapple ash mealybugs.

Instead of fulfilling their responsibility of supervision, the Taiwan authorities have filed a complaint with the WTO, striking at and smearing the mainland; this has not only failed to help Taiwan's fruit farmers tide over the difficulties, but has made their situation even more difficult. Taiwanese fruit farmers, who have lost the mainland market, have suffered extremely heavy losses.

Of course, the Taiwan authorities have also urgently put forward some contingency measures, such as strengthening domestic sales, calling on the people on the island to buy more fruits, and promoting export sales to Japan and Hong Kong, but they are all palliative, not the root cause. The island's affection for Shakya is not high, and the soft skin is not suitable for processing or heating, which also limits its sales. In the absence of export and the lack of domestic sales, the plight of fruit farmers naturally came, and the purchase price of Shakya almost collapsed.

On the whole, fruits imported from Taiwan can basically be replaced by other things without damage, but for many fruit farmers on the island, losing the mainland market may have to find another way. Some Shakya garden owners said that the sales of pineapple Shakya is so good, the children will not find a good job after graduation, it is better to come back and take care of the Shakya garden together, much better than working in Taipei, but now hope is gradually dashed.

Only if the Taiwan authorities really think about Taiwan's fruit farmers, refrain from political manipulation, conscientiously supervise, and properly handle cross-strait relations, can they bring real well-being to Taiwan's fruit farmers; otherwise, they will reap more complaints on the island.
