Whether it is Zhu Xiaobei in "To Youth", Li Bingjing in "Waiting for the Wind to Come", or Duo duo in "Clockwork City", or the single mother in "Mai Luren", these roles played by actor Liu Yaser look quite "miserable", giving people a feeling of bitter hatred and bitter sea.

With the aura of "Wei Girl" overhead, Liu Yaser's acting skills are obvious to all. She has a "drama throwing face", and these characters portrayed on the screen can always make a deep impression.

On September 17, "Mai Luren", directed by Huang Qingxun and starring Aaron Kwok, Yang Qianwei, Wan Ziliang and others, was released. In the film, a group of homeless people huddled together in a fast food restaurant to warm up and regain the warmth of their families. In this film, Arthur Liu plays a single mother, a woman who combines suffering and perseverance. After her husband's death, she raised her daughter while working to pay off gambling debts for her mother-in-law, and her final fate was lamentable.

Why would you want to take on this seemingly unpleasant role? What was the special experience behind the scenes? As a 30+ sister, how did she ride the wind and waves? On September 19, the cover news reporter interviewed Liu Yaser exclusively, and off the screen, she was also as maverick as Zhu Xiaobei. She commented that the character was a single mother who was a little paranoid, a little stubborn, and a little strong, and when it came to the plot of paying off the gambling debt for her mother-in-law in the film, she responded: "Why do you have to get someone else's understanding?" "I'm not afraid of the character being scolded, and I look forward to everyone scolding her after watching the movie."

Acting in movies is not afraid of being scolded

Cover News: What was the point that impressed you in the first place for "Mai LuRen"? Is it Director Huang Qinggong, co-actor, or script, or character?

Arthur Liu: I took over this film because the executive producer, Mr. Zheng Baorui, suggested that I challenge the role of a single mother. He described to me the characteristics of this single mother, and later went to see the director and screenwriter, and was also impressed by the state of the character they described. Without Zheng Baorui's recommendation, I might not have the confidence to accept this challenge.

Cover News: You play a single mother in the film, because of a love that is not blessed by her parents, and she also has to pay off her mother-in-law's debt after the death of her husband. How do you see this role? Afraid of being scolded?

Liu Yaser: Many people don't quite understand why this single mother has to pay off her mother-in-law's debt, because many modern women don't make the same choice. However, I believe there are still a few people who are actually very traditional, very kind, and very paranoid, and they feel that "I just did what I felt was right and didn't need to be understood by others." Moreover, I think that because of her kindness and tradition, out of guilt for her mother-in-law, and her "love for her husband", she is willing to take on her husband's unfulfilled responsibilities.

I don't worry about everyone scolding this role, but I actually look forward to everyone scolding her.

Cover News: From Zhu Xiaobei to single mother, the roles you play are quite tragic, why? Can such a role inspire your desire to perform?

Liu Yaser: Maybe the audience thinks that the role I play is more marginal and niche, and it seems that life is miserable. But my perspective is slightly different, I am willing to challenge such a role, more is to see the inner strength of the character, I hope these characters can bring the audience strength.

Learned acting with Aaron Kwok

Cover News: This movie brings together Aaron Kwok, Wan Ziliang and other powerful actors, what kind of spark did you collide with their previous opponents? Is there any interesting story behind the scenes with them?

Liu Yaser: These actors are all film emperors and film queen-level seniors for me, and I am actually very excited and excited to cooperate with them, and I am also very afraid that I will not be able to drag my feet.

In fact, they are very good to get along with, very close, and there is no shelf. I would talk to Aaron Kwok about how to perform, and sometimes I couldn't understand Cantonese, and Sister Qian was acting as my interpreter. Their serious attitude towards acting is particularly worth learning from me.

Cover news: These characters in "Mai LuRen" are trapped in the end of the road and still face them with a smile. Looking back on your acting career, have you ever experienced such a desperate road as in the film? Did this movie resonate with you?

Arthur Liu: Yes. My last film work before "Wheat Road Man" dates back to "Clockwork City" 4 years ago. In the past 4 years, I have been quite low, but, combined with my personal experience and this movie, I feel that I must believe in hope and try to persevere.

The low point is the tempering of life for me, at this time to learn to accept and enjoy, I always comfort myself in this way, if there is no such experience, I may not be able to act in this type of drama.

Cover News: After filming this "Mai LuRen", will your mentality towards your acting career and your mentality towards difficulties change?

Liu Yaser: In addition to the rapid development of Cantonese, after filming this play, my mentality and perspective on the problem have undergone some changes. We're too tired of playing these roles. In order to play this role well, I will try to enter the lives of these wanderers, and it will be difficult to get out in the end. I don't want to make a scene like this again.

Self-confidence has nothing to do with age

Cover News: If you had a choice, what kind of role would you most like to challenge in the future?

Liu Yaser: Those characters that have not been tried, in fact, I would like to try, for example, a pure bad person, or Bai Fumei in an idol drama (haha).

Cover news: This summer, "Sister Riding the Wind and Waves" has spread all over the Internet, and it has also triggered a national discussion on how 30+ women should face the workplace. What do you think of the workplace ecology of 30-year-old women?

Liu Yaser: I will have a more rebellious mentality. When everyone is talking about thirty and standing, I don't think there's any difference between 30 and 20 or 10. Each age has its own unique charm, and when everyone is emphasizing 30 years old, it is actually selling a collective anxiety that makes everyone afraid of the arrival of 30 years old. Women should have their own appearance at any age, learn to love themselves, be confident, and have nothing to do with age.

I don't think that when I am 30 years old, I can "ride the wind and waves", nor does I mean that only learning to sing and dance is "riding the wind and waves", and "riding the wind and waves" has many forms. Just like the single mother I played in "Mai Lu Ren" does not need to be understood by others, everyone is living themselves, respect is good, do not understand.
