White-eared thrush morphological characteristics: body length 24 cm, wing length 10 ~ 11 cm. The male and female plumage are the same color, the head is blue-black and shiny, and the back of the neck to the back and throat to the upper chest are gray-black. The lower back, waist, and tail are covered with orange-brown feathers; The tail feathers are slightly elongated, blackish-brown; The wings are black and shiny. The base of the primary flight feathers is greyish white , white over the eyeliner , very long, extending to the ear feathers and the back of the head side is very prominent. The underbreast to the undertail is covered with chestnut brown and the underbreast is slightly greyish-black. The mouth is black, and the feet are flesh-colored.

It inhabits broad-leaved forests and mixed coniferous and broad-leaved forests at altitudes of 1,000 ~ 2,400 meters in mountainous areas, and often moves in small groups in the woods and upper layers. It has a wide diet, dense flowers, fruits, seeds, insects, etc. It is an endemic species of bird in Taiwan and is commonly distributed in the middle altitude mountainous areas of Taiwan.
