From Haruki Murakami to Ōkujie, talk about the emotional perception of running

author:Far North

I ran more seriously for two years, during which I always wanted to write my feelings, but I always felt that something was wrong. As a result, the Achilles tendon "cooperatively" had some problems, so that he seriously stopped running for more than 5 months to recuperate. Now it is finally complete and can be written - as an amateur runner.

Everything is difficult at the beginning, first talk about the process of getting started, and what I know "what is running".

Looking back, I really ran to many places. Needless to say, when I was in school, I ran in the fields of Sweden, by the sea in Norway, in the street gardens in France, in the hutong streets of Beijing, in the Century Park in Shanghai... Of course, I have the impression of running a few steps at the Everest Base Camp in Tibet, and then stopping the food.

It seems that the resume is luxurious, but in fact, it is all blind running.

Until one day, a friend gave me a book, Haruki Murakami's "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running". If there is a watershed moment, perhaps this event is up to the role. Or maybe it was the moment when I finally opened the envelope of that book, after all, the book had been eating ashes on the shelves for a while.

In fact, I have long known that Haruki Murakami has the habit of long-distance running, but what is going on between the two, I can't know without reading this book. This essay is very much like an autobiography, one can get to know him personally, and the other is to get some sense of running.

It turns out that the two things of writing and running can be harmoniously integrated. It may not be accurate to say this, but it should be said that it is running that maintains the balance of Murakami's life. This topic will not be expanded here. In short, his example and role model made me yearn for the coexistence of writing and long-distance running. This is completely different from the usual image of those pot-bellied and cloud-swallowing writers.

Here's an example of how much it affected me: When I traveled to Japan a few years ago, I walked around the ring road outside the Meiji Jingu Baseball Stadium in Tokyo, which Murakami used to go to when he lived in Tokyo.

There was always a feeling that long-distance running, or marathon, was becoming more and more popular among the domestic white-collar group/elite. And these people are often not very young, and there are many people in their thirties and forties. This is true, but it gives me a bad impression - maybe it is getting older that you start to pay attention to long-distance running? Murakami is all grandparents!

Fortunately, this magic thought was broken by myself. It wasn't Haruki Murakami who drove me to my running fever, but two other things.

First, I enjoyed the work "Strong Wind Blowing", both watching animation and reading novels. As a result, youth and blood seem to burn in the body again. When I traveled to Japan, I passed by Hakone, but unfortunately I didn't know anything about Hakone's status in running circles at that time. Thanks to my university classmates, I only have the unsettling word "Hakone's cowherd" circling in my mind, but I don't know the famous Hakone Ekiden.

The second is to meet Da Jiejie, a long-distance runner. His unique experience and super handsome appearance (and running style) made him quickly become my idol. That's right, it's more than thirty, if you ask me if I have an idol now, who the idol is, then the answer is Dajiejie.

Some people may have found that all of the above are Japanese. Objectively speaking, Japan is the most leading and popular country in the world in long-distance running culture, and there is no need to refute it.

So back to business, what exactly is running?

Running is a boring sport. But everyone who has gone to school in China has probably experienced long-distance running in physical education class. It was a boring and painful project. After measuring 1,000 meters, the feeling of blood in your throat will never be forgotten. When I was in elementary school, I was a member of the track and field team, and one of my training programs was to run in circles between the three alleys and four to eight in the west and north. The PE teacher might say "three or four" or "three or six" today. Although the so-called three or six is not much more than three or four in terms of distance, the higher number causes a lot of psychological pressure.

Running is a painful exercise. Foaming at the mouth and panting like a dog, isn't that painful? One of the reasons why I can run is that I wanted to have a painful thing to balance my life (unlike Murakami's kind). As far as running is concerned, it is a physical tempering and a challenge to willpower. Of course, the feeling depends on your speed, and running easily is not painful.

Running is a lonely thing. In fact, many people will run in groups, and even run groups. But many more are probably running alone. This may be about personality, or it may be about convenience and training effectiveness, and will not be discussed. Being able to enjoy solitude is a good thing after all.

Running is a joyful sport. The running process is undoubtedly painful and happy, and after the run, it is refreshing. Working at the desk for too long, back pain and neck tightness are inevitable. Go for a run, and the uncomfortable taste will be swept away. In addition, the legendary "runner orgasm" does happen, but that's not the point.

Running is a very friendly exercise for fat loss and weight loss. The principle is that in the case of relative jogging, the human body burns fat more efficiently. When you run faster, the energy supply ratio of fat will be greatly reduced, and the glycogen energy supply ratio will increase to make up for the energy required by the body. Generally speaking, it is to run silly and breathe, which is not only very painful and easy to be injured, but also the weight loss effect is not ideal. On the contrary, jogging has a better fat loss effect and is more pleasant. I realized this after running for a while.

Schematic diagram, mainly looking at the change of proportion

So for people who have no effect on running to lose weight, there are nothing more than several reasons: the first is that although they run, they eat too much, the second is that the running time is too short and/or too fast, and the third is that they are in a hurry and no longer insist.

Generally speaking, keep jogging for more than 30 minutes at a time, and it will have an effect over time. Of course, running also has some risks for people who lose fat. The risk is that this group often has neither specialized knowledge nor is heavier. Heavy weight is one of the important factors in injury, and I will talk about it next time.

The above is some of the partial perceptual cognition of running, and the next article will make some more scientific explanations from the aspects of pace, running volume, heart rate, etc.
