Since the 1990s, the population of wild naked-bellied sturgeon in the Ili River Basin has decreased sharply, and it has been listed as a national second-class protected animal. A few days ago, at the Yihe Sturgeon Breeding Base in Gongliu County, Xinjiang, the scientific research team successfully realized the artificial breeding of wild naked-bellied sturgeon for the first time.

On July 23, the reporter saw in the breeding base that these artificially bred wild naked-bellied sturgeon fry have grown to about 6 centimeters, and the number has reached more than 6,000. Since May this year, the scientific research team has artificially fertilized the first 13 wild naked-bellied sturgeon and obtained 25,200 naked-bellied sturgeon fry. After 50 days of careful cultivation, more than 6,000 have successfully survived and are currently in a good state of development.
