But people's original understanding was broken by a Magellan penguin.
The cause of this incident can be traced back to April 20, 2010. After the explosion of an offshore rig in the Gulf of Mexico, a serious oil spill occurred, and the well was sprayed for 87 days, dumping about 3.19 million barrels of crude oil into the blue sea.
Because crude oil is insoluble in water and has a small density, it covers thousands of square kilometers of sea and continues to expand with wind and waves, and by early 2011, it has spread to Brazilian waters, causing fatal damage to countless marine life.
It is precisely because of this background that a strange relationship has been created.
João Pereira de Sousa, a kind-hearted mason and hard-working fisherman, retired and moved to an island near Rio de Janeiro.
One day in March 2011, João was leisurely walking on the beach when he suddenly saw a dark mass on a rock, fluttering weakly against his body. Out of curiosity, he hurriedly walked over to check that it was a little penguin covered in crude oil.
At that time, the penguin's signs of life were already very weak, and from time to time there were several low wails, which could be life-threatening if not treated in time.
Joao looked at the dying little life in front of him, and his heart of pity was born, so he immediately carried it home, found a few small fish to feed, and then carefully helped the penguin clean up the oil on its body. The oil itself is not very easy to clean, and he is afraid of causing secondary damage to the penguin with too much force, so it took several days to clean up the oil on the penguin.
After Joao's careful care, the little penguin returned to its original appearance after a week, cute and very lively, seeing everything fresh, and the things at home were pecked non-stop. Therefore, Joao gave the little penguin a very appropriate name, Dindim.
For some time after that, fishermen on the island often saw strange scenes, a thin, hobbling old man walking in front, and a cute penguin shaking his head walking behind. Occasionally, the distance between them widened, and the penguins would hurriedly flutter their little wings and support their small short legs to follow a few steps, like grandparents and grandchildren walking together.
After a long period of contact, the residents of the island know that Tintin is only close to the old man Joao, and he likes to get into the old man's arms and sell cute the most. However, it is very difficult for outsiders to get closer, and he is always pecked back by the "vicious" Tintin.
The old man and the penguin get along very well, but the penguin is not a domestic pet after all, and it is only a matter of time before it returns to the sea. Joao saw that Tintin had almost recovered and tried to return it to the sea, but every time Joao arrived home on his front foot, Tintin caught up from behind.
After not sending Tintin away several times, Joao broke off this thought, treated him as a member of the family, and stayed with him. However, in February 2012, Tintin also reached the hair change period, but suddenly one day he said goodbye and jumped into the sea and disappeared.
Since Tintin left, Old Man Joao's heart has been empty every day, sitting on the beach when he is fine, staring at the vast sea in a daze. He and Tintin spent several months together, and when they were together, they always wanted Tintin to return to his own world, but Tintin really left, and his heart was like knocking over a five-flavor bottle, which was very unpleasant.
More than four months passed in a flash, and who expected that a miracle would happen.
One day, Joao was sitting on the beach staring at the sea in a daze when he suddenly saw the figure of a penguin. At first he thought it was a dazzling look, until the penguin excitedly pounced into his arms, only to realize that it was really Tintin who had returned. The seventy-one-year-old man, as happy as a child, even shed a few tears with excitement.
Since then, Tintin has been like a wanderer who goes out to work, saying goodbye in February every year, and then running back more than four months later to live with Mr. Joao for nearly eight months.
Later, the story of Tintin and the old man Joao was spread by the residents of the island, attracting a large number of tourists and media to come to the island to witness the happy life of the old man and the penguin.
