Since the Lakers won the 2020 championship, Anthony Davis has been different. The shortened offseason after Orlando Parks, coupled with some annoying injuries, not only lowered his stats, but also kept him out of the game for much of the past two years. In total, he has played only 76 regular-season games since winning the title.

And during the offseason, Davis was deeply involved in the game storm. He himself revealed through social media that he had not touched the ball in months, his body appeared unusually bloated, and his health was worrying.

But this season, he set an ambitious goal to lead the Lakers back to the championship. "My personal goal is to play as many games as possible in all 82 games," Davis said in an interview with Spectrum SportsNet on Lakers Media Day.

For obvious reasons, Davis will almost certainly not play the full 82 games. Leaving aside the fact that he hasn't reached that total in the last two seasons combined, very few players in the modern NBA have played 82 games. The load management of the team will usually limit the number of games played by the athlete to about 75 games, even when fully healthy. For a player like Davis who has been injured many times in his career, the team should arrange the number of games he plays.

In the new season, the Lakers have only one goal, that is, to compete for the championship, and once the competition is hopeless, the Lakers are likely to fall into disintegration again. While the team may not mind Davis missing 15 games in the new season, their priority is to keep him fit in late March and early April to make his playoff journey safe.

If the Lakers can return to the playoffs, their hopes for the championship will be pinned on Davis, who has a healthy body.

Ultimately, health will determine the success of Davis' new season. If he can't stay on the pitch, then nothing the team does makes any sense. To this end, the Lakers have been studied by the Lakers management, and Darwin Ham and the team's medical staff will manage Davis's diet and health throughout the season.
