Sibenik is a historic croatian city on the Dalmatian coast, founded by the Slavs, the oldest Croatian settlement on the Adriatic coast. We came to this ancient city by car, wandered around the city, and easily followed the indicators to the famous attractions.

There are indicators everywhere

St. Jacob's Cathedral in Šibenik was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and from 1431 to 1536, generations of architects built this church with a complete stone design. The dome of the church was damaged by serbian shelling in 1991 and has been restored to its original appearance after restoration.

St. Jacob's Cathedral is a must-see for tourists, and the square in front of the door often gathers a large number of tourists, and there will be many tour groups gathering here. We did not participate in the guided tour, we walked to see the flowers on our own, and it was a pity that we were completely unclear about the details and history of the church.

St. Jacob's Cathedral is the largest pure stone church in the world, and the rock carvings on the façade of the building are very exquisite, especially the stone door frames of the gates, and the middle eyebrows of the church decorated with the faces of many figures, which are worth stopping and looking at. Many of the details of the carving are very delicate, and it can be seen that it must have taken a lot of manpower and time in that year. I imagine that when it was built, many craftsmen gathered together, with a sincere heart, carving one knife after another, what kind of mood was it, was each knife with the devotion of the craftsman? Is every knife with anticipation?

In the middle of the church there is a whole row of figures with heads and faces, surrounding the church. The heads and faces of these figures are very delicately carved, each one is different, and different looks and different expressions are very special. In order to see the faces of these characters, I made a special circle, and a few of them were a little damaged, but most of them were still lifelike and very interesting. I even felt that these were people who actually existed, so I didn't dare to reach out and touch them, but only dared to look at them from a distance. I think that these faces may be the villagers of a certain village at that time, this and that are a family, maybe the one next to them is their neighbor, and in the past few, it is the rich people in the village, who often oppress the poor, this side may be the uncle who sells meat in the market, the one over there is a child, who has not yet gone to school, and plays in the market every day.

Leaving St. Jacob's Cathedral, surrounded by stone buildings, the overall feel is very different from other cities. Maybe the original terrain is high and low, a lot of houses are on the slope, this side is the 1st floor, that side is the 3rd floor, I think it is interesting.

We inadvertently walked to a platform between the stone buildings, originally thought it was the roof of the people's home, but did not expect it to be a café. It just so happened that we were tired of walking, and it was perfect for afternoon tea at this time. Sitting here drinking afternoon tea can see a little bit of the church, although there is no scenery, but the breeze is gentle, look at the clouds in the sky, very comfortable. We chatted leisurely over coffee, and the time flew by, and an afternoon passed quickly.

Overall, the city is well worth a walk, except for St. Jacob's Cathedral, which is well worth visiting, but also walking between stone buildings, ramps and buildings, and getting a feel for the different flavors of the ancient city.
