Early life
Alexander Skarsgård was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1976. His father was actor Strandsgaard and his mother was a doctor. He was the eldest of six children in the family.
Because of his father's relationship, he starred in his first film role at the age of seven. Play Kalle Nubb in Okai and his world. In 1989, he starred in the Swedish television show Hunden som log, and at the age of 13 he became famous in Sweden. Unwilling to be recognized, he did not act for the next 7 years.
Skarsgard applied for military service at the age of 19. He served in the Swedish Army, was selected for the Conservation and Hunting Unit, served 18 months in the Stockholm Archipelago to deal with counterterrorism issues, and retired in 1996. He then left Sweden to study at Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK for 6 months, but admitted that he did not learn much and instead "had a lot of fun".
After 7 years out of show business, he started thinking about it again. In 1997, he enrolled in drama at Marymount Manhattan College and moved to New York City. Six months later, he returned to Stockholm.

Skarsgard played Brad Colbert in the miniseries Iraq War (2008) and Eric Northman in the TV series True Love Like Blood (2008-2014). His role as Perry Wright in the TV series Big Little Lies (2017-2019) has earned him several accolades, including primetime Emmys, Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards. He also starred in the films Thirteen (2010), Depression (2011), Super Battleship (2012), Tarzan Returns (2016), Hummingbird Project (2021), Godzilla vs. King Kong (2021) and Nordic (2022).

Personal life
Skarsgaard is a fan of Swedish football and supports Stockholm-based Hammarby F.C. In October 2010, he participated in the "Bayan Aid", donating several items he signed and auctioned to raise funds for Hammarby Football Club.
