Cao Wei was awarded the title of athlete by the State General Administration of Sports. On December 8, 2019, in the men's doubles final of the 2019 ITTF World Challenge and North American Open held in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Cao Wei/ Xu Yingbin defeated the Belgian duo of Allegro / Lambite 3-1 to win the championship.
