Since mid-June, Pakistan has experienced unprecedented monsoon rains, with floods washing away roads, crops, bridges and buildings. More than 1,100 people lost their lives in the floods and nearly 500,000 people were displaced into the camps.

I looked up information that Pakistan had not seen such heavy precipitation for at least 30 years, and this year's precipitation is more than 70-80% of the average.

This is indicative of global climate change, and Pakistan is the most vulnerable to this problem because of its geographical location. Extreme heat has accelerated the melting of glaciers, with the result that water flows from the Himalayas to Pakistan, leading to extreme flooding.
