In 1979, Popular Cinema was revived, and the covers of the years before the resumption were all film stills. Starting with the cover in 1985, the editorial board made some adjustments in the choice of cover, and photos of the actor's life began to appear on the cover of the magazine. By 1986, the cover of the magazine began an unprecedented subversion, and the cover of the first issue of the year was illuminated by the off-the-shoulders of film actor Zhu Lin, which was also the first "large-scale" cover photo that appeared seven years after the magazine's republishment.

Fang Shu on the cover of the August issue of the same year, the red slip dress, the flowing hair, the eye-catching earrings, necklaces and bracelet accessories combined to form a fashion element that surpassed that era. This is Fang Shu's last cover of "Popular Movie", before which she has been on the cover three times, twice in 1986 alone, this year is also the peak of her acting career, she won the Hundred Flowers Award for Best Actress for the film "Sunrise".

In 1986, when off-the-shoulder suits were popular on the cover, Lin Fangbing's cover on the November issue was very special, tightly wrapped but the exquisite figure appeared just right. Sexiness really has nothing to do with clothes, and this cover is still sexy even today, more than thirty years later.

By 1987, the off-the-shoulder outfits of the female stars were still the bright colors on the cover of Popular Movies. Song Jia, Mai Wenyan and Liu Xiaoqing, three actresses with different styles all appeared. Liu Xiaoqing has a record of winning three consecutive championships at the Hundred Flowers Award for Best Actress, while Song Jia also has a good record of two consecutive championships.

Mai Wenyan's appearance is full of foreign style, and the atmosphere of Tsuchura is completely incompatible with her. Her film and television works are not many, but she is a regular visitor to film magazines and wall calendars, and for a while she once returned to the film and television circle, and the most impressive was the TV series "Wisteria Garden".

In the January issue of 1988, the cover of Popular Film magazine broke through again, and Zhang Xiaomin's crop top cover became the guarantee of sales in the opening year. Zhang Xiaomin is still in the film industry, but far away in Canada, and she is currently the dean of the Canadian Film and Television Academy.

Although Ma Ling has only been on the cover of "Popular Movie" twice, each time it is amazing. This large shoulder-out and three-dimensional side face of the December 1988 issue makes people remember this girl at once.

This off-the-shoulder photo of Pan Hong was published on the back cover of the magazine this year, and it is also a "scale" photo that Pan Hong rarely appears in the magazine, which is said to be left for Garbo when trying on styling. This year, she missed the French director Godard's "Garbo Biography" in order to shoot Xie Jin's "The Last Nobleman". I don't know if Pan Hong had made "The Legend of Jiabao" that year, whether her acting career would be more brilliant than it is now.

In the May issue of 1989, Lin Qingxia appeared on the cover of Popular Movies for the second time, the last time in 1986, and she was also the first person among Hong Kong and Taiwan stars to appear on the cover of Popular Movies. It can be seen that the off-the-shoulder photo is still the cover of 1989, and Lin Meiren's oblique off-the-shoulder is also just right to embellish the sexiness.

As a "small film flower" who went overseas to develop, Chen Chong at this time already had a certain reputation in the world because of the release of the movie "The Last Emperor". Compared with the pure image left on the cover of "Popular Movie" before going abroad, Chen Chong's cover highlights the international trend in both makeup and clothing.

Shi Ke, who was called "black skin big mouth" in school, has a look of endurance, and is a bit European and American, and her appearance at the age of 58 has not changed much from when she was in her 20s. She was a little sorry that she and the movie "Red Sorghum" passed by, and now she is still filming one scene after another.

Gong Li's swimsuit photo cover is the first photo of "Popular Movie" that almost uses full body swimsuit as the cover, before Tan Xiaoyan also had a cover that was a swimsuit, but "Popular Movie" only chose the photo of the upper body. At that time, no one expected that Gong Li would later be so popular and so popular across the strait and the three places and even the world, and it has been popular until now, and Gong Li is also the actress who has appeared on the cover of "Popular Movies".

By the 1990s, popular film cover photos tended to be conservative, and it wasn't until this photo of supermodel Xin Ying appeared in the July 1992 issue that broke the deadlock. At that time, three Ying were very popular, namely Qu Ying, Li Ying and Xin Ying, and their photos were all over various magazines and wall calendars. Xin Ying's cover photo was taken by an Italian photographer, and this scale is still not small today.

Beginning in the 1990s, in order to fight for sales, the cover of Popular Film magazine continued to follow the sexy route, and Ma Ling's sequin costume was borrowed from Pierre Cardin for photography. The magazine sold out as soon as it went on sale that year, but it also caused trouble for the magazine company. A senior leader believes that this cover is "vulgar and vulgar", and the relevant departments even decided to stop the February issue of "Popular Movie" for rectification.

However, the February magazine has long been printed, and even used more explosive photos of Shilan than the January issue. The February issue of the magazine sold better than the January issue, and was reprinted several times along the way. In order to avoid unnecessary trouble, the magazine decided not to send the magazine to any leader from now on.

The back cover of the February issue uses a photo of Hong Kong movie star Ye Yuqing, and this issue of the magazine is not only sexy on the cover, but also cool on the back cover. And since 1990, the title of the back cover of Popular Cinema has also been changed to the same large font size as the cover, so that the newsstand can hang the cover and back cover at the same time to attract readers to buy, similar to the promotion of multiple covers of a magazine that often appears now.

Beginning with the April 1993 issue, the cover of Popular Cinema began to return to conservatism, and it is not known whether it was pressured or for what reason. In the years since, magazine covers have rarely seen the previous fashion scale, and more tragically, sales of the magazine have plummeted due to the decline of the print media industry. Today's "Popular Movies" can no longer see a trace of the past, and it is no longer within my subscription range.
