Cuba said Friday it was seeking technical assistance from the United States to clean up a fire at an oil storage facility. The blaze killed 16 firefighters. Experts from Cuba and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency held a virtual meeting Wednesday at the Matanzas Supertansas Supertanker Port, east of Havana, to discuss the cleanup effort. Cuba's foreign ministry said it was a "professional and fruitful exchange." Cuba's Foreign Ministry said It requested an assessment of its efforts so far and its access to innovative technologies and procedures from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, other agencies and oil companies.
