A recent landslide in the shiite holy city of Karbala in southern Iraq led to the partial collapse of the local mosque of Qattarat al-Imam Ali, which has killed four people and injured many others and trapped so far.

Rescuers used heavy machinery such as bulldozers and excavators to carry out rescues, and relatives of trapped people anxiously waited for news at the scene.
The Imam Ali Mosque is located about 28 km west of the center of the southern Iraqi city of Karbala. The local civil defense department said the earthen embankment near the mosque was saturated, causing rocks and sand to start sliding, and the damp triggered landslides that hit the mosque's ceiling, causing about thirty percent (about 100 square meters) of partial collapse.
