The drought is too severe! "Lowland Country" and "Water Country" have become dry fish ponds!
This summer, Europe has suffered from high temperatures and droughts, and even the "water country" of the Netherlands has not been spared. The water level of the Ijssel River in the Netherlands, a tributary of the Rhine, has dropped dramatically, and the ponds near the river are now nearly dry, killing a large number of fish due to lack of water. To save fish in ponds, volunteers from the Dutch Fishing Association recently embarked on a special operation in which fish from ponds that were about to dry up were caught with nets and released into rivers with larger volumes.
At the same time, in order to alleviate the drought, the Netherlands declared a state of water shortage earlier this month, banned agricultural spraying in some areas, and some canal locks have been suspended. The government advises people to reduce the frequency of car washes, flower watering and pool storage in the near future. Previously, the Dutch government declared water shortages twice in 2018 and 2011.
